INT. TELEVISION SET: LIVING ROOM - DAY

PETER AND SARAH (HUSBAND AND WIFE; 40's) ARE DRESSED SMARTLY. SARAH HAS HER BACK TO CAMERA AND RIFLES THROUGH HER PURSE. THEY OVERACT.

PETER
Look, hurry up; the reservation is for 7 o'clock!

SARAH
I can't find my lipstick. Oh, sod it! (SHE TURNS AROUND; HER FACE IS CAKED WITH OTT MAKE-UP) Do you think I'll be alright without it?

PETER
(STARES BRIEFLY) Yeah.

DIRECTOR (OOV)
Cut, cut! Stop there.

CUT TO:

DIRECTOR BEHIND SET. HE STORMS OVER TO A LARGE METAL BOX, WITH WHAT LOOKS LIKE AN EAR TRUMPET STICKING OUT OF IT. THE MACHINE WHIRRS AWAY, COUGHS, ROCKS AROUND THEN SUDDENLY STOPS. OUT POPS A CARD AT THE FRONT, THE DIRECTOR PICKS IT UP.

CUT TO:

DIRECTOR HOLDING CARD, IT READS 'NOT FUNNY'.

DIRECTOR

Rewrite! We need a rewrite people. (TO ASSISTANT) Get me the bloody writers!

END OF SKETCH

Has this been done before?

Probably not, good idea though!

I like the idea maybe start more faux serious to build the twist?

Probably not funny, or probably not been done before?

Faux serious = Less slapticky? Yeah, I didn't give the actual filmed scene a great deal of thought, I just wanted to do something that one could believe would be from a generic sitcom.

It is probably a bit too much like the sketch fom Tittybangbang where the girl comes down the stairs ready to go out and she keeps having stupid hats on and that.

Thanks.

I thought it was pretty funny Adam. Couldn't tell you if it's been done before though.

Swear I've seen this somewhere before, where exactly is another question.
