From what I've heard It's no Finding Nemo.

Definitely not.

American Werewolf is brilliant.
It was the first Movie we rented when we got one of those new Video Players in the early eighties.
The remote control was on a wire for crying out loud.
You kids don't know you're born.

Laughing out loud

On a wire?? Bugger off!

The first film I rented for our video was Garfield the Movie.

It's true I promise.

If you go to the Imperial Eighties Museum you may see that very model.
The Video would pop out of the top as well, really loudly, about 4 seconds after you pressed eject..

Coooool.
On old films whenever they press a button on the remote it makes a loud click.
I want one of those.

I remember them! We were so poor I used to have to use the video remote control wire as my double dutch skipping rope.

That doesn't sound like a poor kid.

What about Creep, the one in the Subway?

I watched that when it came out because I was smitten by Franka Potente after Run Lola Run. Like 95% of horror films, it was crap. Slightly better than average, but not much.

Now there's a thread starter. The first videos I rented were Airplane and Yellowbeard.

The first videos my fmily ever rented were Savage Island and Ice Pirates. They were both Pirate films, but Ice Pirates was set in Space. I think my Dad rented the Michael Keaton Gangster spoof, Johnny Dangerously, a few days later.

We had a remote on a wire! At least it didn't get lost every fecking 5 minutes.

First film we rented was Howard the Duck.

I've never rented a movie. Women, though... Whistling nnocently

Are you trying to imply that women have rented movies? Hard to disagree. Whistling nnocently

That sounds like the worst video store, ever.

In the olden days, you didn't rent a film you bought it for about £40.

When you took it back they gave you about £32 back and you bought another !

So, an £8 rental charge.

I'm talking Sony C5 and Betamax days.

It was always the best video tape format.

Ice Pirates was terrible, but the other two were quite good. You didn't find Johnny Dangerously funny?

I was alluding to the pirate films, really. I haven't seen Johnny Dangerously, will keep an eye out for it though; I quite like Michael Keaton.
