British Comedy Guide

Much Needed Help

Hello Comedy writers and lovers, I was going to post this in the 'introduction' or 'critique' section but it's a bit of everything so do bare with me. I would like to start off by introducing myself; My real name is Anthony Cameron and I'm an aspiring comedy writer.

Currently I am a student studying media production, For my final year project I was fortunate enough to turn my hobby in to my work as I was granted permission to do a comedy website (I was planning to do it anyway).

On this website aspiring comedy writers like myself can publish light-hearted comedy material as well as blogs/events & news. The idea is to give budding writers a chance to polish their material and interact with their audience via the forum if they so wish.

I really want this site to be something these writers can be proud of, a platform on to greater individual projects and an entertaining/informative service for the gen-pub (general public).

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE SITE and let me know:

a] Whether you would be interested in becoming one of the writers/producers
b] What you think of the content
c] What you think of design

I would also be eternally grateful if you would also join the forum as I have a really harsh marker who thinks the forum is the only way of telling if the site is successful or not.

By the way I'm in no way trying to rival this site or forum, It would be great if we could all just get along :(

MANY THANKS FOR READING, TAKE CARE.

The content of the Forum Registration Terms is interesting; especially this bit: Aggressive or slanderous messages, as well as personal insults and critics, the coarseness and vulgarities, and more generally any message contravening the French laws are prohibited.

You're going down mofo!

To be honest, I don't want to join another forum where I can exactly the same here. Good luck though.

Good luck, but I suspect it'll be hard work getting people interested in another forum. You're probably better off with a blog.

Or try this website: www.chortle.co.uk

They'll be very open and frank about your new website.

Paul, that's a bit cruel. Like throwing meat to the lions!

I suppose you'd rather they starve! LION HATER!

I didn't think many people could be arsed with the forum. My tutor wants me to populate a forum in the space of 4 weeks, I've never heard of such nonsense on stilts.

I still don't really know what you guys think of the site. I won't be offended if you think it's moribund but I will invite you to write for us and show us how it's done (which of course you can refuse but where's the fun in that).

If you're desperate, you can pay an Indian peanuts to fill up a forum with garbage. Just Google for "forum posting".

That's how we found Sooty.

That's a lovely idea, I had no idea that sort of thing even existed. unfortunately being a student n'all, I can't afford to pay anything really.

EDIT: I may be able to afford that if I get desperate enough.

It does look like a good website Anthony. But like your tutor said, you need people using it to make it worth while.

You want to get James Cotter, Dan Pearce and David Bussell on board.

Yes, it does look good. What other forums and websites did you look at as a model for it?

Cool

I was going to say you'll get a lot of comedy value reading the responses on Chortle but I just remembered you'd need to post the link on a comedy forum for that too happen.
