The Blakewells next to my university used to buy used books from students. I used to use the public libraries near me far more than the university one and often got them to order in the books that I needed. I bought all the primary texts and never had any problems getting the secondary texts that way.

Being the luddite that I am, what's the issue?

I've been slaving like a black today, as my lovable old racist grandad used to say.

I remember staying at a B&B once, ran by a very sweet seeming old lady. Then one night she said, in quite a pleasant manner, 'It is really a nice place to live round her . Apart from all the dirty f**king niggers'. It's quite tricky to know how to react when that's suddenly tossed at you! I think I did a strangled little titter and shuffled off.

The definition of what an IP address is (which even a fule like what I am kno).

It's just because we're all doing it at the same time, Dolly, and using the same books. This particular one is very general, and so has been snatched quicksmart. The libraries near me are incredibly rubbish and unhelpful, unfortunately.

What is it with these B&B people? At least she didn't have any problems with the gays - or at least had the decency not to sound off about it.

I always found it rather curious that my old Nan used to rent out rooms to foreign students when I know for a fact she hated foreigners (partly I think because she was one).

The Government's bitch who has been charged with taking the bill through the Commons in the past few days, does not understand even the simplest points of the most controversial part(s) of the bill. And that letter illustrates it.

There's a terrible prejudice that anybody who expresses a racist view is somehow evil. They might be misguided or ignorant, but they aint evil or bad.

I never said she was evil, I was sharing my racist story.

How did that audition for Jackanory go, by the way?

They didn't like my choice of short story, 'Jimmy, Mr Snuugle Top, And Why The Holocaust Is A Bunch Of Made Up Horse Shit.'
