Yes, he had the same effect on my eldest, with Blink. I didn't even allow the youngest to watch that one! It says something for the enduring effect of Who, when written properly; my girls have seen all manner of other stuff, Jurrasic This and Lord of the That, but nothing else has ever had this effect on them.
That's partly the job of Who isn't it. I had a Dalek fear as a child.

Also realised re-watching it that Amy wasn't the only Scottish girl in the village, what with Annette Cosby there too.

I don't think it said she was . .? Just that she was Scottish in an English village, and mentioned the fact she'd been there since she was a little girl, but had never lost the accent.

Proof, I think, that the twist wasn't exactly a twist, we were supposed to work it out, to be one step ahead of The Doctor. I think.
I watched it again last night too, I think the first twenty minutes or so, and the final ten, are about as perfect as I've ever seen Who; magical stuff. Smith is outstanding (The way he delivers that line, 'Basically . . . run . . ' !!); and the script, the look and direction, brilliant. It really did have a different look and directorial aesthetic.

All this from a fellow who rates Sylvester McCoy as his favourite doctor! I too am a Matt Smith fan though - he is very good looking.

I don't think it quite works like that Matthew, otherwise everyone of my age's favourite Prime Minister would have to be Mrs Thatcher. And everyone's favourite food would be Findus Crispy Pancakes.
