(Trouser) trumped again!
Quote: Tim Walker @ April 4 2010, 1:08 AM BSTWhich appears to be based on a drug-induced dream William S Burroughs (probably) once had about a reptilian man-eating penis.
Or H.R.Giger for the extreme realisation of reptilian, man-eating penises?
Quote: Nogget @ April 5 2010, 10:35 AM BSTThis episode benefited from *lacking* certain qualities which RTD brought to the show, like over-sentimentality, and plots which make no sense.
And an unrealistic proportion of the characters being raging poofters.
I know it's a fantasy/sci-fi show, this Doctor Who thing, but the idea of a hospital ward full of coma patients was completely preposterous (especially in a small English village hospital). And the concept that (thesedays) a doctor could suspend a nurse, telling him to "take some time off", was beyond the realms of fiction.
Just had to get that off my misguided chest. Thank you.
Well it was a nice flashback to Tom Baker Pertwee little English village in peril stories.

Have you never been to Eastbourne?

Well, yes, I got that... but all the same...

I did a locum weekend as a medical registrar at Eastbourne hospital, so...
Point taken.

Maybe, but it was spooky. Spooky outweighs boring reality as far as I'm concerned when you're writing Who!

You poor, misguided child.
(And it wasn't very spooky as far as I could see.)

Nah.

Them all saying 'Doctor' was quite spooky.

I thought you'd been banned from "canvassing opinion" in primary school playgrounds.

Stop watching Who Tim, it's not for you! *Huffs and kicks at the floor like a big, hairy, baby*
I've just slightly disturbed myself with the image of a big, hairy baby.
I thought there were echoes of the gasmask episode in it. Now THAT was spooky. Ish.

If the Doctor says "boo", do you wee yourself?
