Doctor Who... Page 400

Murray Gold's godawful contribution

Is he related to Hitler or something? I think his music really adds something extra to Doctor Who, yet there seems to be this universal hate toward him.

The teeth were properly scary!

Yeah, the cartoon snake a little less so! :D Perhaps if they'd at least left that reveal to nearer the end, it would have played out a little better. I'm being a bit picky though, I'm sure lots of kids loved the eel snake thingy.

Yeah, it's never bothered me. I suppose it's a little loud at times, but then it's probably not down to the composer how high in the mix his music is left.

Is this series going to follow the rather predictable path of The Doctor saving the world every episode? Because that surely over the years becomes a little tiresome? Why not hark back to the good old days when The Doctor saved the world metaphorically by doing good on a local and personal level? Dramatically, it would be good for the show also. After all, once you've saving the world/universe all the time, where do you go from there? (I suspect that this is an argument which has come up time and again on this thread, so apologies.)

Cartoon snake was rubbish. :)

Didn't even notice any Murray Gold music.

The whole 5 minutes/12 years thing they've used before in The Girl in the Fireplace, but it still worked, I suppose.

He doesn't save the entire world every episode. Some, yes; but not every.

The Waters on Mars episode was ridiculous, but like you say that's surely down to the sound editor. Maybe it was deliberate, perhaps Mr Davies had written a load of old clap trap. :D

Once a series at most would be enough, surely?

Perhaps a bit up its own arse at times, but I suppose it will take some time to wash RTD's legend spinning out of the system; and if it was plot light, that is at least better than plot stupid. All in all good fun, and if it did not quite have me on the edge of my seat, it did at least hold my attention.

Matt Smith was not quite the annoying boy I had been expecting, perhaps because in real life he is ageing so quickly he is going to look older than Hartnell by the end of his run (even if only stays as long as Ecclestone.)

Karen Gillan looked very fetching in uniform, though it was so blatantly not police standard issue, that it made the reveal a bit obvious.

And a great little cameo from Olivia Colman.

A promising start.

In fact, has any previous Moffatt episode had him save the whole world?? Hmm . . . was there potential whole world destrutiony type stuff possible in The Empty Child, perhaps??

I like the new Tardis.

Yes, very steampunk.

Music was worst in the opening 10 minutes. It's partly the volume but also it has the subtlety of a sledgehammer.

Quoting oneself is a sign of insecurity, Matthew.

Yeah, I was surprised they showed the skirt she was wearing before the reveal. Not too disappointed that they did show it mind you :D

I really do like his stupid outfit.
I'm tired of the Doctor looking stylish, he should look geeky and awkward.
Although he is on the cusp of making it look like he's in a rock band who have been styled to be geeky...

Yes, very steampunk.

Not as good as the movie one though and I still have affection for Tom Baker styrofoam stylee.
