As is a proper sexy assisstant.

She is certainly very easy on the eye. The Dads in the audience say "Yes". :)

A very enjoyable opener. I had my doubts, but Matt Smith was very good, and nowhere near as manic as I feared. And young Ginger was very sexy in her short little police skirt. :$

I look forward to the rest of the series.

Except my libido is completely confused due to his last assisstant being a completely munting gingah'.

What have they done to the bloody theme music?????

I liked the theme music.

They've totally f**ked up the theme music. Stoopids.

But the episode was pretty good.
He wasn't as annoying as I'd feared at all, but I haven't really taken to him yet. And she was fine, but nothing special.

Hopefully it'll keep getting better. And they'll both grow on me.

Well, I thought it was bloody fantastic, but then I also liked Tennant's finale so my opinion doesn't tend to stack up with that of everyone else. Purely from a writing perspective, to introduce a new doctor and new assistant in such a pacey and humourous manner was nothing short of genius. Sure, the story itself wasn't exactly first rate sci-fi, but it couldn't be, it had to be light. And after 10 minutes, I had completely forgotten about David Tennant. This is going to be the best series of new who yet, and I personally can't wait for more.

Quite simply the best opening episode to a series since the show returned. By far. Smith was superb.

That new theme tune though, didn't like that much.

I like the new Tardis.

Also, isn't it a bit treading old ground to have the Doctor's new female assistant leave "real life" on the eve of her wedding - just to set up the inevitable tearful scene when she leaves the Doctor as her tenure on the show ends?

I don't remember this having been done in this way before . . ?

I like the new Tardis.

Yes, he spoke about different rooms too; it'd be nice if we actually get the chance to see some other bits this time.

Yeah, FINALLY they mention the other rooms.
That's been pissing me off for years.

Maybe not specifically, but it signposts the inevitable moral dilemma that the female assistant always must confront, which in Doctor Who is always of an emotional/personal nature. In that way, showing it so early in the series not only is giving the game away, it is also a bit of a well-worn dramatic device for this show.

Doesn't bother me that much, but it is a little formulaic. :)

Apart from the theme music, the tacky pre credits sequence and Murray Gold's godawful contribution I thought it was jolly good. Looks like being an enjoyable ride. It was overdue a fresh start and it all looks promising - especially the two leads. Very especially Miss Pond. :)

I like the fact that the Doctor was clearly lying to Amy about why he wanted her with him at the end. I know kids probably liked the snake thing, but the effects for it didn't really come fully up to scratch, much better and creepier if they'd left it as the people with their mouths stretching and pointy teeth.

The teeth were properly scary!
