Shows that you remember but no one else does! Page 9

Surely everyone remembers The Young Doctors. It was our first glimpse of Jim Robinson and had some popstar patient called something StClaire or something...

Don't forget The Sullivans, that weird, period Aussie soap that ITV used to insist on broadcasting every frigging day for a good few years. Had Mrs Mangle from Neighbours in it, before she was Mrs Mangle from Neighbours, but playing her role in The Sullivans exactly the same way she played Mrs Mangle from Neighbours.

(According to Wikipedia, also featured Mel Gibson, Kylie & Danni Minogue and Sam Neill amongst its cast at various points. Probably also had all 20 of the other Australian actors that were around during this time, in every show going.)

Remember Joe Mangle? I always thought he looked like a white Denzel Wahington.

Strange, just the other day I was thinking that Denzel Washington looks like a black Joe Mangle. :O

What was the thing about a load of teenagers getting shipwrecked on an island that was stuck in the past? I think the kids were from different nationalities. It actually sounds like Lost, now that I think about it.

The Lost Islands

Also did you know that Revalations was created and mostly written by Russell T. Davies!

Anyway, I wanted to add Gems created by Tessa Diamond, Lucan and Murun Buchstansangur!

Yes, but writing fake letters for Why Don't You...? will always remain his greatest achievement.

I didn't know that about Revelations - but makes perfect sense now. It was quite camp. We used to have friends around every week to watch it.

The Lost Islands - well remembered! I always found it a bit creepy.

I remember Gems. It was the sort of thing you got to watch when you bunked off school. I think Tony Slattery may have been in it.

Loved Murun B too, but don't remember Lucan at all.

Does anyone remember a cartoon about miniature dogs living in medieval times, called The Biscuits?

No, but I really wish I did!

Was there a rather saucy soap opera called Shelley on ITV set in the rag trade.

Lots of big hair, negligees and occaisonal bare bums.

I got a bit obsessed with Monkey at one stage.

Many years after this was first screened I read a translation of Journey into the West by Wu Cheng'en, first published in the 1590s. I was astonished to discover that Monkey, which I had always assumed was a piss-take, was actually a very literal and faithful adaptation.

Me and my best mate Jonathan, used to play Monkey in our street... Then there was the age-old childhood debate about whether or not Pigsy was played by The Monkees' Mickey Dolenz. "What would he have been doing in Japan?", I'd say, but Jonathan would insist it was him.

Whatever happened to Jonathan?

Whatever happened to Jonathan?

I haven't seen him for years. We went to the same Secondary school, but we stopped hanging around with each other when he got into Heavy Metal and started playing Golf all the time. I was into Hip hop and Funk, and I didn't play Golf, so, by the time we got to about 17, the friendship was over. I think he became a Surveyor, and the singer in a "Doom Metal" band.

The Girlie Show. An atrocious sub-Word show hosted by Sarah Cawood (?). In a similar vein, there was a late night music show called Naked City, hosted by Johnny Vaughn.

Hooperman starring the late John Ritter. A forgotten classic it wasn't.

That rings a vague bell.
