The James Whale Radio Show. It used to go out on Fridays on ITV at about midnight. It was rather racy.

I have an episode of that on video somewhere. My friend's band were on it.

Here's one I bet no one else remembers; Revelations. It was a 1990s post 10pm ITV soapy drama serial about - get this - a bishop who accidently murders the woman he's having an affair with. He had a mental which included a slaggy daughter, junkie son and a wife with an unhealthy obsession with her son.

It was both awful and unmissable.

Home Movies.

A badly animated cartoon from Cartoon Network. Incredibly dark like Curb your Enthuasim for kids.

Hooperman starring the late John Ritter. A forgotten classic it wasn't.

I have vague memories of that. I remember there was a brief phase in which ITV were trying to develop a late night soap. Wasn't there one called Night and Day as well? And we even had a weird Coronation Street offshoot featuring the adventures of Bet Lynch. None of which worked.

Short-lived 80s ITV soap Albion Market anyone?

Vaguely remember this.

Interesting how difficult it is to recreate that certain something soaps have like Eldorado.

Is it wrong to still miss Marcus and Pilar?

Night and Day had a daytime version (up against Neighbours IIRC at around 5.30pm) and a late night version, which was much racier. The show opened around a storyline of a teenage girl going missing and then seemed to drop this plot in favour of becoming more soapy. It had a lot of fantasy sequences and wanted to be really glamourous.

Didn't have plots with ghosts and demons and stuff.

The Young Doctors

I hated The Beachcombers.

I was fascinated by the show's villain, Relic.

Just Wiki'd Beechcombers. A Canadian drama series about a brave man chasing down escaped logs.

His enemy wants to steal more logs.

Who's genius cocaine vision was this?

Great lead actors, no pretty boys or girls (apart from the Indians). And the theme tune was very catchy. Great stuff for an undemanding (and possibly retarded) child wanting a change in pace from The Goodies and Monkey.

I'm trying to remember the theme tune now. I was about five when it was on and if it was on it meant Space1999 or Planet of the Apes wasn't - enough to make me not like it. It didn't even have animals in it like Grizzly Adams. Also as a kid stuck in Notting Hill on a sunny Saturday morning, the last thing I wanted to see was people walking along a beach. :)

Yeah I think it did have a ghost storyline.

The Young Doctors

Surely everyone remembers The Young Doctors. It was our first glimpse of Jim Robinson and had some popstar patient called something StClaire or something...

Monkey.

I got a bit obsessed with Monkey at one stage. My family have always been into doing (and watching) martial arts and this was Bruce Lee but with loads more fun to a kid.

Me and my best mate Jonathan, used to play Monkey in our street. I remember tying a shovel to the end of an old broom-stick, to re-create Sandy's weapon, and we used to play-fight. I've always been good at sound-effects, so I used to re-create the sound of the weapons flying through the air and the clanging of them hitting each other. Then there was the age-old childhood debate about whether or not Pigsy was played by The Monkees' Mickey Dolenz. "What would he have been doing in Japan?", I'd say, but Jonathan would insist it was him. Isn't it? Wasn't it? Marvellous.
