Shows that are not as good as you remember Page 2

I know this is going to be a bit controversial but - Fawlty Towers - I loved it when it was first shown but, seriously, can't find the same desire to watch it anymore. Too much hype.

I agree it can be a little over-hyped at times, but I do still love it. Apart from the wedding anniversary episode.

Totally agree with Fawlty Towers, I cringe when I watch it now.

I watched a Gavin and Stacey the other night and was quite embarresed that I enjoyed it so much at the time.

I remember Jonathan Miller and John Cleese discussing the humour of Fawlty Towers on Parkinson many moons ago - they were trying to elevate it to some higher plain of comedy. For years I believed that people were taken in by this bollox - until the Vicar of Dribbley beat it in the Best Sitcom poll thingy

It's far better than the Vicar of Dibley, however much it may have aged.

Hmmm...according to Wikipedia, he does voice-overs for the X-Factor! I'm sure he had a programme on Radio 4 in about 1990 but they don't mention that.

I'm sure that you would know.

Absolutely Fabulous is another one that was all hype - a show of its time I would say.

I've got to stick up for Ab Fab, maybe it's because it's not repeated that often, but I still enjoy it, in fact I'm watching an episode on Gold right now.

Oh it had/has its moments, it still seems like a product of its time.

I think it's a girl thing.

Looking at them again . . all the people in Camberwick Green don't walk like normal people and I never noticed that you don't get a list of actor credits.

Odd . .

Similarily, The Flumps lacked a cohesive social realism. Unimpressed

I do not enjoy Absolutely Fabulous very much at all.

I loved it when it was first on.
