Another BBC opp Page 5

Hi Freddie!

>What exactly did your email say???

Just that, basically. It just said congrats, gave me those stats and then it was a load of legal stuff.

>How do you know they haven't contacted everyone yet?

I don't. I just said it was possible.

>I'd guess going through 150+ submissions every week would just take up to much time to be worthwhile. That and paying a few writers small change for several jokes is likely a lot less fuss then giving many writers one small payment each.

Yeah. I have to say kudos to the BBC for that actually. Even though it must be a lot of work for them, the BBC still support new writers excellently I think! Even if the days of Huddlines and Weekending have gone.

Thanks for the congrats Hennell.

Got the same Email as ddaann last Thursday. Basically they've chosen 14 writers from over 150 applications and will be in touch re the practicalities of submitting.

So I have missed out? Dang.
How humiliating.
Good luck to you who made it.

Congrats to everyone who made it. More rejection for me. But at least I don't have to scour the Welsh press every week :)

Will post my failures in Critique.

Humiliating? Hardly. On this show you weren't succesful. Next time you might be.

You are right of course......I just find it hard to swallow that there are at least 14 comedy writers in britain better than me. Then again I find lots of things hard to swallow.

No. There are at least 14 comedy writers in Britain who they decided to pick this time. On another day, on another show it'd probably be a different 14.

Had my first gag on this week. The one about Gordon Brown dissolving Parliament near the beginning. Bit weak but did the job. How are you finding it Michael?

Nice one! Ain't got anything in yet but we live in hope and all that.

Anyone know why there's no brief for Week 6? Are they recording on Friday again?

If you look on the tickets page, it appears that they're recording on Fridays for the rest of the run. So I'd expect to hear from them this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Ah cheers. I suspected something of the sort, particularly given the election tomorrow.

Made it at last! The 'People who work an extra 3 hours a week are at far greater risk of heart disease. Especially if they smoke in the break' two-thirds into http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00sddrj.

Gottanother one in! 'Reaching 50 is the start of the happiest period of your life. Unless you're Michael Jackson' http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00sj18y
