ITV has axed The Bill after 27 years.
What do people think?
I think it's a shame as has become an 'institution' type show.
It should be kept.

I don't watch soaps, so I'm not bothered, me.
It lost its way when they got rid of the nude scenes.
Loved it in the early years, because the one thing it wasn't was a soap; each episode was a self-contained story and the focus was entirely on the policing, the officers private lives were never even talked about. But over the years it drifted from being a police procedural into a "continuing drama" and I lost all interest.
I had heard that it returned to its roots and had actually become quite good again, so I had been intending to give it another go. I guess the change came to late to save it.

It's hardly a soap. But I think it's run it's course. I wonder if they'll pull down the station. That's just down the road from me too. They often film in this area.

Is Sgt Cryer still in it?
I want to write the last episode.
Sunhill gets blown up a North Korean atomic bomb smuggled in by Al Quaeda crack dealing pimps.
And that nerdy one's sandwiches get nicked.

Not really, it still followed a serial format with many episodes in multi-parts. When the new theme tune arrived it was clear that its goal was to be more American in its approach - for me that killed it. ITV is skint, we will see more game and reality shows to replace The Bill so I just see another nail in the coffin of British TV.
Long time no see, even though it's on five times a week here. Hopefully there remains time for James Cotter to be cast as an extra in The Bill before production ceases.
I thought some of the 30 minute stand alone episodes were absolute crackers, but I lost track of it quite a while ago.
First, they cancel Ultimate Force, now this - what the hell's wrong with ITV?

What happened to ITV wanting to use Product Placement? Is that still going ahead?

I haven't watched it since the '90s.
Is PC Garfield still in it? He had the same name as my cat.
