Slightly odd stuff. Page 2

No, you're not a nobody. :)

Elsewhere, IIRC, you make some good points. If you have nothing constructive to add to a thread then it's up to you not to comment, rather than expect later readers to ignore your comments. It's also part of the forum etiquette.

I have been constructive - this skit is not funny and it's not clever. I could put in bullet points why if that's what you want. But I suspect you know already that what I've said is true. Would you punt this skit? Do you know anyone that would buy it, let alone laugh?

Quote: SlagA @ March 25 2010, 10:18 PM GMT

Wrong again. That's not constructive criticism. :O :)

Yes it is - if you've ever dealt with comm eds you'll know that "no" is a criticism which means they want you to write something that makes them say "yes", even if you think they are barmy or wrong. I'm sorry, but that's just a fact of life.

My own opinion aside, you've only expressed an opinion. You haven't told him where the weak parts are (I suspect your answer already) and what he could do to improve it (again, I suspect the answer). But you need to avoid the inflammatory comments... for my mental health's sake.

Not inflammatory. No is no. Fine, ignore it from me, but if the author thinks this is the way forward and won't accept a no from the audience, you are not helping them. I am. That is constructive.

You "suspect" the answers already. So we both know what we're talking about. Trying to kick the messenger is not constructive, just mischievous, which helps nobody.

He suspects them because of your first post you idiot.

So, as I suspected, you agree my first post succinctly sums up my critique of your sketch. Thank you. We got there at last.

"Winning an argument on the internet is just like the Special Olympics - Even if you win you're still retarded." - Barack Obama at his inauguration speech

If that quote is directed at me, then we can both agree I won the argument. Nevertheless, your skit remains unfunny and not clever.

Its still not constructive. I can tell someone they have a shit haircut, or I can tell them they should try going bald because the whole thing is patchy..

And no, I can conclude that you are a tard.

So you need it spelled out? Really? Cos I will... However, be careful what you wish for, cos you still won't like a detailed "no" anymore than you like your bulk standard "no"... But if you feel you need it, I will put time aside to commit to it, as a favour to you.

Nope, I was referring to how you'd answer the questions.:)

What I mean is, Paddy is left none the wiser in how to improve from your first comments and yet you're in a position (more than me) to help him improve.

This forum isn't comparable to the comms eds' world. We aren't selecting scripts to commission, we're putting up work here for advice and comments from peers (and potentially mentors) on how to improve a piece, not get it bounced back from somebody's desk with a blunt "No."

Now, if you can comment on the piece in a way that will improve it, then you'll have made your first constructive criticism in this thread.

I don't particularly want it, because you're an inconsiderate dick whose screen-name represents the condition of your soul.

Im joking I just cba to argue with you, waste of time.

Because I have coursework to do.

And less of the personal insults, Paddy.

I was joking, I don't actually see this as life and death unlike some people who are glued to this freakin thing.

I can comment, but I can't improve it cos it's flawed in conception, as I suspect you know. And if you look at the OP's latest retort, he won't accept advice from me, so is there really any point in putting effort in? This poster wants praise. I can't offer it. I could offer a detailed critique, but the writing of the skit itself (and subsequent posts prove this) show that this author is so far out of the park it isn't worth it, hence my initial brief summation. But, as I say, I'm a nobody. Encourage this guy, praise him, whatever. This is Critique, and I gave mine. By all means ignore me. By all means tell this guy he's on to a winner. If that is your critique. Which, btw, you still haven't given.

I have some bunnies to pet before bedtime so closing this thread overnight. I hope neither you nor Paddy have had my kinda day.
:)
And Empty, you aren't a nobody. Now, me? We're talking a man who's talents are the dictionary definition of zero.
