More accurately, Throw Lots Of Money At It. With no follow-through or other idea on how said money will/should be spent. (See: Iraq, Afghanistan.)
It really wouldn't be nearly so bad if we'd actually seen the benefit of all the cash they've spent despite not having.

But surely it's just the cyclic nature of politics? Conservatives slash spending till the hospitals are falling down and the army is throwing potatoes. Then Labor comes in spends to repair the damage b by spending loads. Then overspends and the Conservatives take over and cut spending to save the economy, whilst damaging public services.
Cirlce of life and all that.
Unlike the US where the insanely right wing swops places periodically with the extremely right wing.
I always thought the Tories traditionally spent a lot on defence?
