Skit Comp change? Page 7

How about adopting an idea used by tennis and golf? They have a rolling year which determines world rankings. You could base the table on the last 10 comps (rather than a year - that's too long) and when a new comp starts people would lose any points from 11 comps ago. If that makes sense. It could give people an incentive to keep submitting especially if they are due to lose a ten pointer one week.

Or maybe adopt something akin to the Duckworth-Lewis method in cricket, in order to decide how many points should be awarded to each writer based on light and weather conditions during the competition week?

I think that it should broadly remain the same although the idea of the league table rubbed out every 6 months to accomodate newcomers seems reasonable.

Also, I don't want to piss on anyone's bonfire but (going on past experience regarding forum users' producing a sketch show) the podcast idea is as dead as Hector.

Anyone else think 'Dead as Hector' is a good name for the podcast project?

Or maybe just take the piss at reasonable suggestions?

Apologies, Badge, I'd rather thought yours actually was a piss-take. :(

Alas Badge the modern flushing toilet has rendered your door to door urine collection service obsolete.

Ignored again, despite writing one of the best submissions!

You can take your Skit Comp Change thread and stick it! It's obviously a clique-driven closed shop. Angry

I thought that for a long time, it's hopeless, if you're not in you're not in Angry
So friends of friends are winning and not the best sketch...but that's showbiz folks and has been for decades

Yes, to this. :)

It still won't stop friends voting for friends. The voters on here don't consider any sketches except the usual winners, because the winners then vote for them and so it goes on. I know I have put good sketches up on the comp and there's been no votes at all. So I have given up as I will never be 'in' Huh?

It might do if their 'friends' had more points than they did.

They continually vote for each other so eventually it works out. The best sketches don't win, some are diabolical but friends vote them as best....pathetic but that's life. I would rather get there on talent, not because I'm in a clique.
I have a famous daughter that could get my plays on straight off, but what good would that do me? I have never even approached her

I think perhaps people might just have difference tastes. My own genius often goes unappreciated.

Quite. This is exactly the way BBC Three started... Angry

With all due respect (you can estimate how much respect this actually means) this is mainly bollocks. I only say mainly because I suspect there have been a few instances but not very much of late. Write a sketch that I like enough BB and I'll vote for it!

I've enjoyed your sketches on there Bushbaby.
I was wondering why you hadn't been entering recently.

I'm sure I've voted for you before & If it's only once then you were definitely in my top 2 a few times.
I was going to vote for the sketch where you knighted Michael Monkhouse but my sucking up days are over you intelligent lovely lady.

It is not bollocks Badge and I know enough about the business that I am an expert. It works out there in the real showbiz world and it works on here. There have been really naff sketches winning on here because it's the in thing to vote for the favourite one. But as I said, I've given up but don't pretend it doesn't go on, there is a clique on here
Thanks Sunshine
