Just wondered how much someone could make from shows like this and Newsreveue. I often see Martin Malcolm's name cropping up on these lists and wondered if he was a millionaire yet?

Make from contributing material you mean? Not very much.
I think I got about 12 quid for the last sketch I got in.
Its even less for NR. Although that does have a six week run.

As oposed to hanging outside mugging people?
So if you had a sketch in each of the six weeks you might make, £50 or so?

No.
I think the last newsruve sketch I got it - it worked out at about £4 a week.
It's not a money spinner, I wouldn't send sketches expecting any great financial reward.
Hmm, one has to assess whether it is worth the out lay of time and £4 isn't a whole hill 'a beans.
Thanks for the info.
Still good for your reputation and to get "Known".

Is it really though? Maybe if you turn up to the meetings and get togethers and the shows themselves. I don't think the fact I wrote for them for about twelve months a few years back has made the slightest bit of difference to me. What it was, at least to me, was a nice little boost when I first started writing comedy; that a professional show was performing my stuff. Even though I personally didn't care for the stuff I was submitting as I'm not a big fan of writing topical stuff.
Maybe other people have got something else out of it.
It depends what you want to get out of it. Writing for TS and NR are not a panacea and an open doorway to success and fame. That still requires hard work, dedication and talent. I can think of a few TS writers I know that have gone on to bigger and better things.
In my own case I simply enjoy doing it.that's enough for me.
Sorry, I didn't mean to sound snotty/mercenary (Having just read my responses back). I was just trying to weigh up the likelihood of anything substantial coming from trying to get stuff on. I see quite a lot of people's names appearing on the running order and a fair few people on here have a credit or more so I just don't know how much use it would be to have on your writing C.V. All input greatly appreciated.
