Skit Comp change? Page 3

I don't mean through the post as that would mean spending a fortune in shipping. Perhaps something that could be downloaded. An episode of a comedy series, for example. Script software? And the participants are the voters, so you don't even have to select any.

I don't believe this is true.
As far as I was aware anyone is allowed to vote whether they have entered or not.

Sorry, I was having a dig at Chip. That wasn't meant to be real.

The phrase "can of worms" springs to mind. :P

I think there's a danger of taking this too seriously. It's just a bit of fun and everyone knows the voting is unscientific. By all means reset the leader board every 6 months but it wouldn't be a disaster if it stayed as it is. I would still like non entrants to be able to vote though.

Hi all,
Just been chatting with the lovely Michael Monkhouse and we wanted to see what you all thought about maybe wiping the points board clean every 6 months to give newer people a chance of hitting the giddy heights at the top and maybe make those at the top work a bit harder. ;)

It's not set in stone this change, but we wanted to see what you thought about it.

Finally see my 17 points wiped off then! ;)

This is an example of the Skit Comp. https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/17017/

I never realised it was broke!
If it was a competition with Monthly or Quarterly prizes then I could see the point of having a league table that goes back to zero.

The Overall points board is just a record of everyones total scores. It's not a competition in itself.
I've been entering the skitcomp off & on for over a year now, and I quite like the way they show a record of the scores.
If some of the newer people complain that they find it demotivating then maybe think about getting rid of the table completely, but it never bothered me.
I always thought it was just a bit of fun & nice to see yourself hopefully move up a place or two from time time.

Or "If it's broke, put a moustache on it".

It isn't broke. Was just a suggestion.

Chill everyone! :)

And no one is complaining.

Sounds like a goood idea. Why not wipe the points either quarterly or 6 monthly but award coloured stars to anyone who gets a certain amount of points in that time, like with eBay feedback and keep the stars there so their wins aren't really lost?

That sounds good Afinkawan. :)

I can see why it's a good idea but I do kind of like it the way it is. Not like I'm going to lose sleep if it changes but as a relative newcomer, I don't mind it the way it is. It's not so hard to make your way up, as not many people on the list still enter.

But I will bow to popular opinion or authority. :)

Steve

I wouldn't get rid of the leader board - I find it fun. Maybe wipe it after three months? Could you get somebody in the comedy industry to donate a prize?

I love prizes.

Only pets win prizes.

How about you can only send one skit every six months, it must be typed and bound, every one gets a receipt 6 months later, followed by a short but absuvie letter of refusal 2 years later.

Who me?
I don't know anyone in the industry.
