I was made redundant a few years back. Spent my 3 months of garden leave treating 'finding another job' like full-time work.
When I got a cracking new job, starting the following week, I realsied I'd wasted a whole summer 'working' when I could have put my feet up in the garden for a bit.
Still, new job paid well and I've saved up enough to have a sabbatical for a couple of years, only doing things that scare me or make me laugh.
Redundancy - best thing that can happen.
