Dolly, you're ignoring the statistics, and just like the record industry you're considering that every single download is equated to a lost sale. Which is simply not the case.

I probably watch or listen to less than 50% of the stuff I download. None of it would have been a sale hadn't I downloaded it. I spend several thousands of dollars per year on movies and music, so the industry should wish there were more people like me. If they try to punish me by screwing with my Internet access I'll punish them by not spending any more money on their product.

Since you ask, Chip's retied his shoe laces very very tightly and this seems to have cut shoe squeaking to an acceptable level.

I just got a shipment of CDs! :D!

I share a shelf for CDs with my Dad and I'll have to clear out more of his stuff to fit mine onto it. (It's my goal to match the number of CDs he has in there by the time I leave home. Pleased)

Amazon suck at packing CDs. Unimpressed

Ellie loves coming to sit back at her desk to find a new CD sat on it. :)

4 out of 5 CDs broken. Am a bit worried that Amazon won't take them back because I had to get them out of the shrink wrap to realise they were broken.

I guess we can't ask what, can we? :P

Oh, five out of five CDs broken. :(

Check out the "What are you listening to thread."

And that's crap about them all being broken, do you mean the bit inside that holds the CD in? That bit ALWAYS breaks. :(

The actual discs? Never had that happen, but the little plastic ring that holds the disc is often shattered.

The stuff I order from Amazon in the UK always seems to be intact. The U.S. stuff has had more problems, but it's probably an issue of volume.

On all of them it's the little ring in the middle, which is tolerable I suppose - 'cos I've done that before. But two of them have damage to the actual cases. The corner is missing on one and the hinges have snapped on another. To be honest I'm gonna hope we can return them all, or at least those two.

It's the cases, not the CDs. But I never listen to music on CD, so all of my CDs could be broken as far as I'm aware. I buy them purely for display purposes and to support the artists, so it sucks a bit that they are broken.

Precisely, ditto, exactly, etc. :)

But then you just go without. That's life. I've managed to discover music old and new by buying CDs, going to gigs, listening to the radio, being lent CDs, asking your local library to get hold of a copy - and the same with films and TV shows and I'm not particularly wealthy and certainly wasn't as a teenager and in my early 20s. I've never downloaded anythign illegally. But with the Internet it's just easy to not pay for stuff, so that's what people want to do.

So delivery methods have changed. It's exactly the same principle. Being lent a CD by a friend is, in the eyes of the industry, just as bad as pirating.

The ones broken on the outside should be okay to return.

I hope so. I'll use the money to buy vinyl instead. :)

I've purchased jewel cases and inserted the covers and tray liners in the past. Works ok.

I feel somehow mischeivous even though I didn't like, intercept your post with a hammer...
