Here's a good opportunity. It's more for those of you who make YouTube movies...

Basically make an advert for Doritos, and if you are one of the winners you could get up to £200k and have your advert shown on TV. Entry closes 30th April 2010.

Have you ever been sitting, watching the stream of ads on TV and thought, "I could do way better than that?" Well, here's your chance to prove it, and possibly bag a whole pile of cash too.

Doritos has opened it's doors for "King of Ads 2010". Hot off the success of last year's competition, they invite you to pick up your camera, shoot a 29 second commercial for them, and upload it to www.doritos.co.uk. The makers of the top 15 adverts will be invited to pitch their ad idea to a panel of experts and celebrities (including Lauren Laverne and Noel Clarke). The panel will select their top 3, and from here, the general public will determine the true King of Ads.

The director with the most votes will win a guaranteed £100k, and an extra £1 for each vote they receive - up to £200k. On top of this, they'll have their advert watched by millions when it airs across British TV from June 12th - July 11th, all of which looks pretty impressive on a CV. Runner up prizes include £1 for every vote up to a maximum of £5,000; 50 Samsung TVs; and money off Play.com vouchers.

The contest is now open to entrants, and accepts submissions until April 30th. Voting runs from May 29th, through June 10th. There will also be weekly prizes and much more throughout the contest.

Rules:

Entrants must use the tool kit provided on www.doritos.co.uk Your ad must be exactly 29 seconds in length no more no less.

Shoot your ad however you like, but the final edited version must be in one of the following formats: .mpg, .dv, .wmv, .mov, or .avi. .mov and .avi need to be video encoded in mpeg2, mpeg4 or h264 and audio codec is mp3 or aac. We recommend you shoot your ad in '16:9 perspective' as this will make your ad (if chosen as the winning ad) look so much better on TV.

For terms and conditions (including judging criteria), see www.doritos.co.uk for details.

Cheers Mark I'll be entering this Year :)

Are they crackers?

No, I think they're a sort of tortilla chip.

coooo....I could make a packet.

I think most companies will begin to put out briefs like this. Considering 200K is cheaper than producing a TV ad themselves. Competition is going to be tough.
