Ohh, of course. Thanks.

Quote: Gavin @ March 15 2010, 10:39 AM GMTWhen I'm MP for general awesomeness people will move to the UK just to vote for me, and for a time it'll be good.
I'll be the first to relinquish my Canadian citizenship.
-Boarder Guard "You're reason for this visit"
-Curt "To become a citizen of your country, so I may vote for the General Awesomness People Party"
-Boarder Guard "Real reason?"
-Curt "you just heard it"
-Boarder Guard "Sir I'm about to order a full cavity body search"
-Curt "Big Ben..I'm here to see your Big Ben" *taps foot*
-Boarder Guard "Right this way sir" *snaps gloves*

I'm here to Party on your Big Ben!
Sorry, can't see the election being close at all.
The Tories always poll better than the polls say.
And there are televised debates - GB will not do well.
The Sun has also ditched Labour.
Conservative Majority of 50.
What if Gordon kills Dave with a microphone during one of the debates?
Conservative Majority of 250!
It would be very suprising if the Tories didn't win with a workable majority. But there is something a bit naff about Dave Cameron. He's nowhere near as impressive as he thinks he is, and could fluff it under pressure.
Nick Clegg seems clearer, more determined and more in control of his party.
Forward the Lib Dems!
Quote: sootyj @ March 15 2010, 8:11 PM GMTForward the Lib Dems!
You'll have to demonstrate to them what direction that is.

Where is the pressure going to come from?
Quote: bigfella @ March 15 2010, 8:36 PM GMTWhere is the pressure going to come from?
The Lib Dems.
Nick Clegg will make them bend and beg!
And the way forward is straight through the other 2 blowhards. Like a 3rd way political torpedo of common sense.
If the LibDems were going to win power then they would have done it by now. The truth is that most people think they are too wooly for government and I can't blame them for thinking that.

Lib Dems + common sense?

LibDem local councils are not noted for wooliness, and third parties can make the breakthrough if they capture the mood of the country. I think most voters would (quite rightly) sooner trust the economy to Vince Cable than to Osbourne or Darling, and Nick Clegg has a golden opportunity in the debates against Brown and Cameron, neither of whom commands any personal loyalty among voters.
Europe is an albatross round the LibDems necks, but they could hardly be any more slavishly pro-Europe in practice than New Labour, and I do not think anyone seriously believes that once in power the Tories would be any different. UKIP might actually poll quite strongly, which could be a further complicating factor.
I would agree that Cable is the Lib Dems big assest.
But the time for the LimDem's to break through was 1997. They've missed the boat.
