All the Americans removed from the state!

That will still leave several million Mexicans and a sizable number of UK expats. One of them is a regular at my favourite pub and doesn't hesitate to announce that he likes Texans better than his countrymen.

Well good riddance to him then!

And you expect him to say, in a Texan bar, that Brits are better than them? ;)

Visiting Californians do it all the time. Then they go back to their bankrupt state with its substandard schools and overpriced real estate. The smart ones move here. ;)

Yeah but they're still American, so it's a liiiittle different!

I'm not convinced that Californians are even members of the same species.

UK expats

Or, as I like to think of them, quitters.

Traitors!

I hate people who go on and on about wanting to live in another country, as though it'll solve all their problems, and life will suddenly be wonderful. Annoying idiots.

Agreed; if they were really that intent on it, they would actually leave.

Today is yet another holiday I can't enjoy: http://www.steakandbjday.com

My steaks are always well-done and BJs are rare. How I wish it were the other way around ...

The stepfather didn't engage the safety catch when he put the gun down on the table. An action that ought to be practically a reflex for anyone accustomed to firearms.

Safeties aren't designed to keep children from firing guns, they're intended to keep a firearm from discharging accidentally when they're dropped or bumped.

Many new pistols don't have a traditional safety catch. Nowadays they tend to have mechanisms that ensure that the gun is being gripped by a hand and a finger is on the trigger. Your typical revolver has no safety at all. Don't pull the hammer back unless you plan on shooting something.

(I meant to mention this the other day but forgot.)

Why do things look different?
