I like our system where we only hold elections on certain dates at regular intervals. I don't think I could handle elections on a more frequent schedule, it's bad enough that our campaigns last more than a year.

I've heard it said that at least the UK system keeps the campaigns short.

Then form your own party.

The British Comedy Party ?

As with the last two elections, I shall not be voting. Don't support any of the parties.

I don't intend to get involved in this, suffice to say that I have brought my two daughters up to understand that they should always go to the polling station.

I can accept, though not condone, if they write b*ll*cks on the paper.

At least they have expressed an opinion.

Anyone that doesn't participate should not be allowed to participate in any other aspect of this society.

Look at places like Zimbabwe where they walked for miles and queued for hours to vote.

If one doesn't vote, or at least attend, be ashamed.

Agreed. People who don't vote should keep their mouths shut.

Well they shouldn't be allowed to complain about the government, that's for sure!

Amen.

So Ben what we're saying is make the effort. Vote for the Greens or something. You never know what might happen.

I'd happily vote BNP if they pledged to oppose the Digital Economies Bill.

You're having another election already? I'd normally wish you the best and hope for a result where an asshole didn't win, but that's in the realm of wishful thinking, isn't it?

Yes, we'll be voting on the 6th of May.

I guess I'm spoiled by our every-4-years schedule. Even a moron can keep track of our presidential elections - they're always on Olympics years.

(Don't worry, he won't really be voting for the Big Nancy Party. Unless he wants the voting pen inserted up his private area.) ;)

One man, one vote.

One woman, one pen up the arse. ;)

Obviously people can vote for who they honestly believe in, and I wouldn't want to interfere with that right! And it's all very well joking about things and saying things for a certain effect.
But in reality you have to have some morals and responsibility, and not vote for parties who are, in the main, morally bankrupt. :)
You can't join the Ku Klux Klan just because they're giving out free cakes.

I bet Ruby has.

Whistling nnocently

Ha!!
