And who would Mork talk to then?
The Life and Times of Jeremy Spicer Page 15
Quote: Marc P @ March 8 2010, 7:03 PM GMTNah. That's censorship. James Cotter could be the new Orson.
What, the band?
I actually like the Cotter character, but I pride myself on being quite left field and I don't mind slow burning things. Does Spicer make me laugh? No. Did this "bonus extra" make me laugh? No. Did it show off your acting ability? Yes. Like I said on your other million page thread, I find you quite engaging in front of the camera as Spicer. However, if the intention of Spicer is to make people laugh, then it fails unfortunately. You've got to find the funny in the character, and get to it much sooner. The joke in the extra scene is decent, but while I did keep watching, there's far too much "fanny'ing about" in it. It interests me as a writer, but it wouldn't entertain me as a viewer.

I completely and utterly agree. That's why my writing style has changed.

With all due respect, it's not censorship. Censorship prevents active discussion. This thread is circular and never-ending, as are all of Cotter's. Curtailing it is editorship. All writers benefit from good editing. Readers too.

Which is easier to do? To say one's writing style has changed? Or to change one's writing style?

With all due respect, at least two other Cotter threads have been arbitrarily locked, possibly because they began to take on a similar theme: James your perseverance is admirable, but you should create a truly unique character (who is your own age if you're playing him) and try not to do everything at once (better yet, get yourself a Stephen Merchant).
Whether thread locking, which effectively kills conversation on a subject, can be deemed censorship is a matter for debate. Perhaps it is unnecessary censorship (or at least muzzling), if it's a vibrant ongoing thread that hasn't became a flame-war full of petulant insults.

So which is this? Seems a whole heap of repetition and circular argument to me. But if you have something original to add...
Some butterflies need longer in the cocoon.

That would be it. But perhaps something new (and relevant) will appear, inspiring James to better things.
Smurfette is an AIDS whore created by Gargamel to destroy the gay utopia of the Smurfs.

Or perhaps not.
We like to only lock threads and delete posts when absolutely necessary. So I'm sure no one is really going to lock this one. Unless something drastic happens!

And when Paul gets bored with them, but perhaps necessarily so.
James seems very single minded which is an attribute many of us have admired in him.
But it does tend to lead to a lot of heated debate on his Critique threads.
I hope another JC thread doesn't get locked, James is entitled to take on board whatever criticisms he likes, and he usually does.
He's doing it his way, and I think with that kind of dermination & work ethic he could make it.
And then who'll be laughing? Not us, that's for sure.
Yep, I think James knows that he now needs to demonstrate what he's learned.
So James, less picking around the bones of Spicer and Harris and Doyle and onward with the new, eh?

An expert back-hander... my hat is off to you. Again.
What I meant was that he'll be the only one having the very last laugh.
*phew, fixed that one
