Lover's Gift

INT. A LOUNGE. DAY.

A COUPLE ARE TALKING.

MAN:
Listen...about the other night.

WOMAN:
It's okay, we both said things we didn't mean.

MAN:
It's been hard you know?

WOMAN:
It's been a difficult time for us both.

MAN:
I want you to know that I'll do whatever it takes to make this baby.

WOMAN:
I know you will

MAN:
I got you this....like you asked me. I know I said I felt a bit funny about it.

HE PASSES HER A SMALL CARDBOARD BOX.

MAN: (CONT'D).
But...

SHE OPENS THE BOX AND PULLS OUT A DONUT.

WOMAN:
It's a donut?

MAN:
Yeah..it's ok, take a bite, go on.

SHE BITES INTO IT AND PULLS A FACE OF DISGUST.

WOMAN: (CONT'D)
Argh, what kind of filling is this?

MAN:
The kind you said we needed.

WOMAN:
I said we should look for a sperm donor.

MAN:
Oh......oh.

END.

Brilliant! Very, Very funny. Also very rude, but laugh out loud funny! Laughing out loud

Nice one Laughing out loud

Didn't see the end coming, also very easy on the eye.

Is that a new flavour at Krispy Kreme? I definitely think I'd laugh at this.

I don't get it

It's a confusion between sperm donor and sperm doughnut, BB.

oh, ok :)

Very funny, if you make them from Hull they pronounce donut donaah up there.

Very funny but do as sootyj says and give them an accent or the confusion is a bit of a stretch.

Would I have to re write with an accent? Or can I just use exposition on the stage directions. Not overly clued up on the Hull accent.

Very good, simple set up / pubchline works normally always works best!

I can see the insinuation, but I just don't think donut and doner sound very similar. I'm not sure if people from Hull do pronounce donut as SootyJ suggests.

I think they do :)

Funny! And if the accent is ordinary (and by 'ordinary' I mean 'common as muck'), donor can sound remarkably like doughnut.

I don't think it is too much of a leap of the imagination that there has been some confusion between doughnut and donor, especially when it is for comedic effect.
