I got a double CD of Big Star a couple of years ago and still not got around to listening to it.
Got Reeling in the years by Steely Dan on at the moment.

A bit like Carlos Santana you mean?

Legs?
Quote: Gavin @ March 3 2010, 1:43 PM GMTLegs?
Yes, Legs, and other stuff off their Eliminator album... Think I'll listen to their less well known 1970's songs on YouTube as well. It's supposed to be top stuff.

My favourite band!
some Rammstein tunes.
Going to the show later today Gotta be something...fiery
Quote: Alfred J Kipper @ March 2 2010, 1:51 PM GMTDefinitely great stuff, possibly cack, but only if he became addled with the drink and drugs. But he may have got through it, like Clapton, Page, Richards and many others did!
Hendrix was already addled, surely? Anyone who's turned abuse into the drowning-in-vomit stage can be described as addled?
Hendrix, and many other raved about guitarists (Clapton, Knoppfler etc) really get my goat when they start their fretboard masturbation - The Whitney Houstons of the going-nowhere-but-forever-ullulating 'MALody'. I've always liked my guitar solos short, melodic, and climactic (in that it reaches its natural peak at the right time in the solo), rather than unending purgatory-esque rambles through the church of the eternal pull-off and hammer-on. Much like this post has rambled.
Even when my fave bands do it, I kinda turn off until the meat of the song returns.
Maybe we could start a "Favourite Solo" thread?
I'm listening to Julian Cope today. Yay!

So you're not worried about being premature. You don't like a tantric guitar solo then.
Good Vibrations - Beach Boys on a CD comilation "the Woodstock Generation". It has some interesting tracks not heard often these days like a lot of Disky compilations.
Running up the hill - Kate Bush. Absolutely magical.
Mika - Touches You
Some kind of terrible Jazz.
Spoon - I Turn My Camera On
Diana Krall - Let's Face the Music and Dance
