Excellent news. As someone else said, bout time. That's one of my Christmas presents sorted out then.
One of the best shows ever. Originally loved it for Rip Torn's Artie but every one was so good teh whole show grew on me especially Hank, just one of teh greatest sit-com charcters ever.
According to the Chortle link they are not even botherign to a region 2 release due to its lack of popularity over here.
Maybe that's due to scheduling or the country that made Steptoe and Fawlty Towers etc etc are now too busy watching Simon Cowell and have just turned into the most pathetic bunch nobs in the world.

I never saw this, but love Larry Sanders.
So, question is, Is it any good?
It is good, and well worth the punt, but from what I remember it really hit its stride in later series.

I did fancy revisiting this, but wasn't sure about going through them all so I bought a 'best of' DVD for about a fiver.
looking forward to taking another look.

I would say he was influenced by Sanders and the work of Larry David, yes, as he himself has stated several times.
I don't think he stole The Office from The Day Today, no. The idea for The Office came from a character Gervais used to do for work mates who he called 'Seedy Boss', I believe.

Probably. But they were both spoof documentaries about the inner workings of an office. I would say it's his (and Merchant's) take on the same idea.

Well obviously it's a take on the same idea, but it's not actually much of an idea is it, a mock-doc in an office. It's the charaters and relationships they brought to that 'idea' that make the show.

Well, they made it into an episodic series which is a bit of a leap from one sketch so you would expect that.

Garry Shandling sued his manager for stealing from him and triple dipping. His manager was Brad Grey of Grey-Brillstein and he became head of Paramount so that could explain a bit of where he's been and why the shows took so long to get to DVD. You should get the book Garry Shandling wrote about Larry Sanders called 'Confessions of a Talk Show Host' must be down to 99p by now.
