Although 'should of' is how some people actually speak - a handy habit to keep for when you write scripts. After all, another bugbear of producers is when dialogue reads more like an essay than how people actually talk.

Yes I agree to a point but youngsters actually think it's 'should of' when in fact they're saying 'should've.' My granddaughter got a top grade in English A level and still writes 'should of.' The mind boggles, it drives me wild.

yes 'should of' really bugs me too but I guess it is bad teaching initially. Also 'it's hard for me'......[wish it was] should be ...'it's difficult for me'

I honestly wasn't thinking of that instance. In fact, it slipped under my than-then filter.

I should of been in a group that was more inline with my capability.

I just recently saw an article that consist of the top 10 irritating words.
"Shouldn't of" is on the list. "Shouldn't of" or "should of" is grammatically incorrect, so make no mistake of using it instead of "shouldn't have"
