This is something which I've found, too. They shouldn't really be called 'dating' sites because there are a lot of people there who you'd like to get to know, but not romantically.

You HAVE to stay for that one drink at least. It's very unfair to just leave immediatly. Then say very politely "well I'd best be getting off, lovely to meet you." Do NOT mention another date, and avoid saying things like "I'll call, or text".
Also, DO NOT DRINK MORE TILL SHE "SHALLOW HALS" IT AND BECOMES HOT.
Isn't that the problem with dating sites? The dates are blind. At least with meeting people at work etc, you know if you fancy them before a date.
I went on a date once where the girl literally ran off to her ex-boyfriend. To make matters worse, I was staying at hers that night as she lived some distance from me. It meant I had to go back home with her 'adopted' mum and dad.

It's also unfair if their photo and/or description was somewhat misleading. I mean, it's one thing to use a photo which shows your best side, but quite another to use one that's about 10 years old. Which is what I sat through last week.
This week, after specifically asking if my date looked noticeably different to the rather vague photo, I was surprised to find that this person, who says they spend so much time at the gym, was shaped like a sumo. I suppose Sumos do go to a gym... Did she not imagine that this might be of interest to people?

Yeah that's pretty crap. But maybe she felt she's never going to get a date looking the way she does, and thought she might try and get a date and then wow you with her personailty.
When I was on dating sites a couple of years ago, I made sure I put up some natural photos taken by the other people so that there was no suprises about my body shape. I'm 2.5 stone lighter now though, so would probably cringe at the photos from then, but at least I was truthful!
Nogget, show a little compassion. There are worse things than spending an hour with somebody's who's misrepresented themselves on a dating site.

By that logic, I should have compassion for a mugger, because at least he's not a murderer.
I've done Ellie's "being nice" thing twice within a week now, and it simply delays the inevitable, because you've got to let them down at some point. In fact, it feels a bit cowardly to wait until later to do it.
