The Comedy Unit - Backlog

I sent a couple of sketches off to The Comedy Unit last night and got a response back earlier:

------------------------
Hi there Ben

Thank you very much for sending in your collection of short scripts. They have been received and we very much look forward to reading them. We will be in contact as soon as possible with our comments.

As there is currently a backlog of material it could be 24-26 weeks before you get a response. We apologise in advance for this delay.

Kind Regards

24-26 weeks?! Is that a normal wait?

Half a year? I shouldn't think so!

I sent my sitcom to them back in August and they said 20 weeks to me. They must have a hell of a lot of scripts to get through.

Seems like it wasn't just a typo. At least they let you know.

Bloody hell! Oh well, good luck with it anyway guys. Let us know if you make any progress... in half a years time. Bloody hell!

I was told 20 I think - that's life, lots of waiting.

It's no wonder they've got a backlog - they're one of the last production companies who happily accept and read all scripts. At the rate it sounds like they're now being sent in, it can't be long before they've had enough?

Me too - although I did send it while the Edinburgh festival was on which probably doesn't help.

There's only two of them though and one's on maternity leave.

Doesn't stop her reading scripts does it?

It's probably the best thing to combat post natel depression.

It took them about six months to get back to us the first time. From what we saw when we were there, they do always seem to be snowed under. They've got all the problems with RDF Media at the moment too.

What problems?

RDF own the Unit, and it's RDF who are in the middle of this Queen v Peter Fincham thing.
