Self service tills in supermarkets. It's the thin end of the wedge. Plus, I always have to get help when I use one.
Things that piss you off Page 567
My friends over here that criticize my use of European spellings, but don't notice when I intentionally use improper grammar.
Apparently most of the American spellings are traditional; it's ours that are changed.

I use them but have a twinge of conscience when I think where they're leading . .
Plus, the tart who nags you!
'Place the item in the bagging area' 'Unexpected item in bagging area' 'Approval needed'
I can stay at home and get that crap !

I quite like them, but like Oldrocker says, the prompts are really annoying.

Partly true. It's only relatively recently that definitive spellings have been established. So much so that you'll often read old passages of text with the same words spelled differently in sentences next to each other. Generally America settled for and standardised the spellings that were closer to the pronounciation; largely because they had to be as simple as possible for the illiterate and non-English speakers (I'm thinking way back before the US was independent). With more elitist writers (journalists, novelists etc), more of a classical continental influence, and less incentive to make any change, we stuck with and standardised the more 'original' and complex spellings. So to the average illiterate villager, we changed.

I got pissed off with one yesterday at Tesco, not only did it fail on me (as usual) when I asked for a bag, the woman went "Make sure you bring your own in the future "
I said to her "Don't worry I'm sure they have plenty at Asda" and left.

WTF! Bring your own bags! are you sure you weren't in Lidl?
Traffic jams.

Agreed. I like the fact they have them in the Boots near me too, so I can buy embarassing things without anyone seeing.

Tesco... What's this world coming too. within a 2 mile radius of that tesco we have another 2 tescos, an Asda across the road, an Aldi, Lidl and crazy local shop you've never heard of! So no I didn't bring my own f**king bags!
I do agree though Paul that people should try and reuse their bags, but if you don't have a spare bag you certainly shouldn't be made to feel bad for not having one.

Yeah, sorry about that. I didn't realise it was contagious.

Oh yeah, not saying recycling is a bad thing or anything it's just the way in which she went about it, I only bought a few things as well, but too much to carry in my free hands (or I would have carried it).

Yeah that stifling cold was a nightmare.

This reminds me of one of my pet hates - self service checkouts in supermarkets. The money grabbing tossers. Employ more staff!
