Funny or Die Page 2

Well, what a waste of time that was.
Twice I tried to create a sketch on there with their clunky buggy whatever it is. Twice, it didn't save when I hit the save button, ending in a blank sketch being posted.

I'd hit save. Nothing.
I'd hit save and close. Nothing.
So I'd hit Close.
A box would appear, asking me to add genre, creative commons, etc and save.
Then it would say "you're navigating away from this page. All changes will be lost.
Leaving a title of sketch with a blank script.

Well, what a waste of time that was.

Try a different browser, I seem to remember it working slightly better in one of them, IE or FF. I usually export the script in Celtx as a text file and then when you create a new script in Zhura it gives you the option to import from a text file. Bosh! job done.

Shoe "Bosh" Pie.

Bosh

Bosh!!

I only have IE.
I found that uploading as a text file and choosing a format worked.
Although, if I try to edit, I'm bavk to square one with the blank page. lol :)

Firefox works. Download and try it Mr J. IE sucks trampcock.

I personally think funny or die is very unhelpful and a huge opportunity for new talent totally waisted. A year ago I put loads of sketches on that site, and it barely got any hits. It's a complete luck of the draw thing. Recently I've put on one Dave Granger sketch and it has got around 30 hits. And on yobi.tv I have the same sketch and it has got over 20 thousand hits and won week 15 of their comedy competition. So I would recommend Yobi.tv for showcasing your stuff.

Also as a film maker I really hate the idea of writing something and getting someone else to film it, but I can see why this would appeal to some people, not everyone has access to equipment.

Also Matt Lucas and David Walliams who front the uk site are doing next to nothing on it lately, their latest blog was in march. I'm just really disappointed in such a waste of potential. Their original videos are very good though.

If you're looking for an enormous global audience, funnyordie (UK) might well disappoint. For some reason it just hasn't taken off in the same massive way funnyordie US did. However it's still well-worth doing as there are industry types watching, not least Hat Trick who film all the original stuff as well as the winning Zhura scripts.

The Zhura aspect of this is dead I think. Months have passed by without any new sketches being filmed or even commented on by the organizers (James Serafinowicz etc). I wonder if it's because Funny Or Die UK never really took off? Does anyone have an inside track on this? Is FOD UK dead?

Shame if so, it seemed a good opp.

It's not dead. Indeed, I believe they have a pilot as part of the upcoming Comedy Lab series.

Yeah I was talking specifically about the Zhura aspect, not FOD per se.

I joined Zhura a while back, posted a few sketches, got a few hits, haven't been back.

Matt Berry has tweeted that James Serafinowicz is leaving Funny or Die

He was just foolin'

Zhara now moved to Scripped and there now charging to use the service. Oh, well.

I hear FOD is being scrapped at the end of the month. The UK version anyway. Not surprising really, it never did take off like the US version. A pity really, it was a great forum for people to upload their homespun stuff.

Perhaps a good time for the BCG to step in and offer a similar service? Just a silly thought.

Yeah, it never really fulfilled its destiny, did it? Too bad.
