"Yeah, I remember that. I think it was called HG Well's The Time Machine"

The Morlocks and the Eloi.. yes.. but it was more than that....

as UN-PC as this sounds...

I think it was more along the lines of attractive people will breed with attractive, intelligent people and the rest of us will breed with the what is left....
(like being picked last for sports at school)

Eventually.. a definite divide will appear... physically - mentally... etc.

That's the idea.... I kind of believe it.

I won't be around long enough to be classed as a troll I hope.

Attractive people breed with attractive people, yes.
But I don't think intelligence goes along with that at all!

Maybe a divide between the attractive and the intelligent. But then I know which side I'd put my money on lasting the longest!

You can be both attractive and intelligent!

Or neither, eh Chip?

Of course!
I'm living with one of 'em. ;)

But he seemed to be suggesting they went together automatically.

Back to the uggos, Kevin! :P

I don't think there will be much more evolution. Although, there could well be a killer disease that arises which some people have natural immunity to. That's the only sort of evolution that I can see happening. It doesn't sound that drastic, but imagine if the only people with immunity to it are people who already have a severe genetic disorder. God bless survival of the fittest.

Agreed that many of the best looking people needn't be intelligent... However - it's all relative.... so there will always be very intelligent attractive/physically fabulous people in the world I'd wager.

I also agree that there COULD be a bug that wipes out most of the planet. Wouldn't surprise me... but I also think that like there are a few people naturally immune to the HIV virus, there could be people immune to the bug.

I just hope I'm one of them. I may not live long enough to see my descendants feed off the other faction alive - unless I'm lucky enough to outlive 99.999% of the population in a mass bug related slaughter.

Does Aaron know about this?

Then I watched a program that I agree with that said that chances are that humans are likely to split and become 2 separate species.

1 species - beautiful, handsome, intelligent well built, healthy individuals.

Other species - unattractive, not very healthy, dare I say... troll like.

We've got that already. Us and chavs.

Chappers - That is EXACTLY what I meant.

The divide will become even more pronounced.... until one day there will be a species that looks like Wayne Rooney... (without all the zeros after his salary)

But surely this is all very short term and temporary in the great scheme of things. Evolution is about the long haul? About what humans will be like in millions of years time? And I doubt very much guests on the Jeremy Kyle show will have de-evolved into their own subspecies.

As Count Arthur says 'If we've evolved from apes, how come there are still apes?'

Assuming this is a serious question, because we didn't evolve from modern day apes, rather that modern apes and man both evolved from a common ancestor several million years ago, something that was probably similar to a lemur.

A common interpretation of the book is that it warns of the consequences of creating a social underclass. The Morlocks are (literally, being underground) the underclass, and the decadent Eloi suffer the consequences.

Are you calling my ancestors common?
