We will be unable to reproduce with humans. That's the definition of speciation, as far as I know.

We have already lost our tails though. Don't think they will come back unless we go back to living in trees, so start climbing or join an eco warrior clan.

Very true. But will we know it?
I always wonder if the gap between rich and poor will produce the barrier needed for speciation?
The little toe surely isn't needed I mean I can't find any use for it anymore, it's an evolutionary dark sheep.
The only use I can find for it is to test how much it hurts your little toe when you stub it getting to your room in the pitch black.
Quote: Steve Sunshine @ February 18 2010, 10:10 PM GMTI reckon we'll develop USB ports somewhere on our bodies.
We can already put all manner of implants inside of us. People have had pacemakers for decades, and I believe David Cameron has something stuck up his arse. Maybe we'll evolve in a way which takes the implants for granted; look at hermit crabs, which without some other creature's shell to hide inside, are soft-bodied and useless. Again with the Cameron gag/
As Count Arthur says 'If we've evolved from apes, how come there are still apes?'

Because they get benefit for not evolving.
I think our fingers will become really adaptable, double jointed as such. They're used so much to type, text that I can see us having extremely long fingers.
I also think that men will evolve boobs that produce milk.

Nah. As long as there are chav footballers making £200k a week, this will never happen.

Unfortunately not Men are a inferior design, darn my doomed gender.

We all ready have them...they're called women.

We already shit - or most of us do.

You definitely won't need us then.
I used to think that humans would evolve to ALL become beautiful, handsome, intelligent well built, healthy individuals...
Then I watched a program that I agree with that said that chances are that humans are likely to split and become 2 separate species.
1 species - beautiful, handsome, intelligent well built, healthy individuals.
Other species - unattractive, not very healthy, dare I say... troll like.
That was the program... there's probably something like that on the internet if you Google it.
Personally to add to it...I think...
-Homosexuals will still exist.. probably a similar percentage to now.
-There will be fewer white people... maybe only found in the coldest of places.
I don't think we'll lose our little fingers, little toes or useless parts of our bodies because being born without them would not necessarily give the human race any survival benefits.
My view

Yeah, I remember that. I think it was called HG Well's The Time Machine.

I'm not buying that. Humans are sentient and we have already mapped the human genome. We know what makes us, us. It seems to me that when the human becomes something else (when human DNA becomes post-human DNA), there will certainly still be humans in existence (if not, there could be nothing from which to evolve).
It is interesting to think about. Humans are in a position not only to describe 'evolution' but also to stop it (or at least engage in behavior that is anti-evolutionary). There is a whole distopian scenario in which humans can identify further 'evolution' as well as steer it and manipulate it.
If you think that humanity is going to sit idly by while some sort of post-human inherits the world, you are mistaken.
