It's Friday - annoying puzzle day! Page 23
I see Phil, I see Jupiters.
Is it never mind the Buzzcocks?

Pic 4 is Dan Aykroyd in Ghostbusters?
Quote: JohnnyD @ February 12 2010, 7:14 PM GMT(I've had a drink, but I think) there are eight ways to get to 36 by multiplying 3 numbers.
These sum to 38 16 21 13 14 11 13 10
He can count the windows but still does not have enough information to choose from the sums above. So there must be 13 windows and their ages sum to 13.
Could you please explain more simply for retards please? Why can't there be 11 windows in the house opposite, while the children are aged 6, 3 and 2? Or various other combinations, such as 10 windows, kids aged 3, 3 and 4, etc?

If you take all the possible combinations of sums (ie window amounts) there is only two that match and they add up to 13.
If it wasn't 13 then he could have worked it out beforehand.
Once he knows that there is an eldest child (ie not a twin)
then he can work out which combination is the right one.
.... I think

Oh, I see now. He went over the road, counted the windows and then worked it out.

You think that's bad?
I clicked onto the previous weeks puzzle.
I'll try to find it.
Here you go!
Imagine that you have been captured and suspended in a tree. The rope is anchored on the ground and a candle is slowly burning through the rope. Worse still, there is a hungry lion waiting for you to drop to the ground so that he can eat you. You don't have the energy to flip up and untie the rope or reach the branch. Help is on the way, but it is going to take an hour to get to you, and the candle will have burnt through the rope by then. What can you do to prevent yourself being eaten by the lion.

Yup. It's Ray Stantz.
If it helps at all, my mindset is more akin to the HIGNFY odd-one-out round than it is to Steve's regular puzzle setter.

I know, it's bullshit isn't it?

Well It's implied that he can see how many windows there are across the road
And as there's only 3 clues it has to be significant.
Compared to the previous weeks one it's a very good puzzle.

Surely that's not possible. There's side windows, back windows, internal windows...

I would imagine the lion has a heart attack and dies.

That puzzle was months ago, and the solution is unadulterated horseshite.

Use a combination of well aimed spit and piss to extinguish the candle?

Seriously, it's more of a joke than a puzzle, don't waste your calories.
OK, forget the lion and candle. And adopting the HIGNFY mindset: Jupiter - no idea; the Ities have laid down the rules for a proper spag bol recipe; Phil the Greek picked up a paper cup; and Danny Aykroyd has been touting Ghostbusters 3. I have no idea what the link is.
