New Podcast Series (It's Back) Page 2

Martin... i listened to this before work and i really enjoyed it. I loved the bits with where's wally!! Actually made me giggle. I got as far as a i could before i would actually have to leave...and i think it was up to the edible dvds section! So that shows it kept my interest! Good start with the Queen! hehe! I liked your Simon Cowell! :)

Well done Martin. I like the Queen and sword bit too.

Listening to it now. I liked the structure of the start, but the Nelson Madela quip was a bit out of date....

More comments in time!

It was very well put together - how many hours go into writing each podcast?

I could certainly see the influence of TMWRNJ on the part at the start where you appeal for money for a new queens finger.

very well put together martin. queen part was great - especially the little subtleties - like when she says 'why would he do that' under her breath. Those little touches really make it for me.

Thanks guys really appreciate all the kind words.

On the Nelson Mandella quip, that was the point really that Mandella has been free for many years now, so my podcast is as FREE as that.

When writing a podcast it's never just a sit down and write the full thing. Ideas for sketches or gags usually come to me throughout the day and I jot them down and when I get the chance I'll expand on them. I usually come up with an idea that will run throughout the show, sometimes that will be a topical thing like on this one with the Where's Wally stuff mimicking the mass hysteria the news/media has caused over the Madeline McCann saga. So when I've got something like that, I'll jot down key words, stuff that I want to say and then the rest I'll just kind of improvise as I'm recording, as long as I have a structure and a point that I need to get to usually things fall into line.

The sketches again are sometimes topical/satire like with the Dead Factor sketch taking the piss out of all the sob-stories that are prevalent in the X-Factor and those don't take long to write, no more than 20-30 minutes. If I'm coming up with a totally original sketch, with made up characters and topics like Edible DVD's for example that can take a bit longer, as I'll keep coming back to it and editing it. Usually though I'd say I spend around 3 or 4 hours on the writing for the podcast, broken up into little segments throughout the week.

Recorded my second podcast of this series today, will upload it in a couple of days though, let this one settle first.

Voices to look forward to, Gordon Brown, Paul McCartney and a singing Michael Jackson. :)

Hopefully an original Jacko quip! :)

Well I'll put it this way, it's not about his surgery, not anything to do with kids or to do with any of his mental antics, so I think you can say it's quite original. But I'll let you make your own mind up when you hear. :)

Hello Martin

I thought I would give it a listen as I have recently started doing a comedy podcast, so if you wouldn’t (hint hint) mind listening to mine

Right onto the podcast review

I actually like the music in podcasts because I listen to them whilst driving or working and I think it nicely splits up the comedy and it seems an increasing trend on people creating their own comedy podcasts.

I liked the hamster sketch and the Diana quip.

And despite the accents not being that good (I feel your pain, its hard gig as a one man band) I enjoyed the X Factor sketch.

I think the word mutilating/distorted could do a bit of improving in terms of what words you distort and where.

The talking piece was interesting, although I felt the music didn’t quite fit the piece but that is just personnel opinion.

Overall I enjoyed the podcast and thought it was good. Not everything worked, I’m thinking of the DVD news bit but 75% of it worked which is very good seeing as it is almost 30 minutes long.

Good work sir, I look forward to the next episode.

Thanks Hoskinator, I'm going to check out your podcast now.

Episode 2 is up now http://itstheendoftheworld.podomatic.com/entry/2007-10-18T12_06_27-07_00

I've just got around to listening to the first one. Very good, well done. Although it was bordering on a little too long and too much music.

Good impressions, accents and just performance. I envy your professionalism!

Thanks Lee. There's only two songs in this weeks show, I'll see how the music goes for a bit, I kind of like it as it just breaks it up a little. But if people continue to dislike the music, I'll think about removing it.

Excellent, Martin. Great production. I thought the subway/God botherer skecth went on slightly too long, but the Chris Tarrant/Amputee one was brilliant.

Nice one,

Bo.

I've been trying to get it to work from the website for a while now to no avail and then I load up iTunes for the first time in a while and low and behold it's downloading on that because I subscribed to your last podcast! Am listening now.
