BBC Three aren't at it again?

BBC Three is to record a second series of Comedy Shuffle, showcasing the best of new talent.

The first series was hosted by Rob Rouse, but this time around each of the six episodes will have a different host.

A BBC spokesman said: ‘Each will bring their own unique vibe to the show and help to put together the week's line-up.’

The comics lined up to front the programme include Frankie Boyle, Brendon Burns, Mark Watson, Lucy Montgomery and Adam Buxton.

And acts contributing material, which will also go online, include Andrew Lawrence, Pappy’s Fun Club, Colin and Fergus, Katy Wix and Anna Crilly, Jon Richardson and Katherine Jakeways.

The shows will be recorded in November and December, and free audience tickets to the tapings are available from Standing Room Only on 020 8684 3333.

Just been to the BBC site (Comedy Soup, Comedy, New Talent) and see no opportunities for new writers. Is this another door slammed shut? I thought the whole point of this show was to discover new writers??

I may be exagerrating but comedysoup provided about 30 seconds of stuff to the last series of Comedy Shuffle. A lot of the filmed sketches (not from comedysoup) were pretty awful. Some of the live acts were good.

I bet this series will see a guest pick 'hilarious' stuff from the internet like youtube virals of...ha..ha...I'm sorry....ha...ha some fat American kid miming to a song,..ha...ha..lol...I'm cracking up here... a film recorded on a mobile phone of someone lighting their cat's farts and ha....ha...ha some death row prisoners in the Congo doing synchronised swimming to ...ha...ha ...Britney's 'I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman'.

I can't wait.

But even then it's more about comics 'performing' their stuff rather than anything for the humble writer.

What I want to know is when (if) they relaunch "Shoot The Writers" or something similar for the mere 'conceivers' of gags who couldn't appear funny if they tried?

Shoot the Writers took a slamming (fair enough too, I'm not defending the quality of the writing) but I have to say the producers gave the Slagg Brothers a belief to continue. They were the first show we submitted to and our first 'success' - minor as all Slagg Brother successes tend to be. The people behind the show were brilliant but they were hampered by people rewriting pub jokes and sending them in. But the advantage was that the original writers stood out. Some of the writers have gone on to bigger and better and I'm still in contact with a few of them. Plus it was the real and only opportunity for TRUE nobodies to get onto 'real' terrestrial TV, so power to them and Colin Bennett, the producer.

Adam Buxton (good as he is) CANNOT be a candidate for Comedy Shuffle, surely? He's not new talent.

Oh, well, it appears you even have to be a well-known name to make it as NEW talent these days at the beeb.

Yeah, BBC's definition of New Talent: Someone that is not new or someone that has no talent. One of either, never both.
