Newsjack - Series 2 Page 46

In response to asking NJ if they were still doing Newsbullet I got this from Sam Michell today...

'Yes we are - but only if it's really funny enough - we feel like it's been the same joke for a few weeks now so if you can think of any way of evolving it that'd be great.'

Anyone got any ideas for this? Obviously it's a bit late now for anyone to try the whole thing but maybe if we think up a few good new angles we can send a bunch of appropriate lines...

The most obvious "evolutions" would be into a spoof one of those idiotic BBC Three "documentaries" about fat parents or getting drunk and blown in Ibiza or something.

Or those equally idiotic agony aunt shows on Radio 1.

"We've had a text from Chris in Southhampton, who's worried that all the other boys have bigger knives than him."

I like the idea of a resident yoof agony aunt but I'm in two minds about the level of evolvement they're after. I don't think they'd introduce a new youth segment for the last episode so I think they're thinking of different approaches within the newsbullet - such as the expert last week who got flustered with their stupidity.

Within the newsbullet I was thinking of listeners comments but it might be too vox poppy.

I may give them another email Errr

More NJ bloggery.

Here is the Newsjack news from Blenks:

11 shows or 1 and 5/6 series thus far if you will.

Submitted to all 11 shows from 2 different email addresses.

And the upshot? No auto acknowledgements to either email address or no credits on the show to boot.

Could be that my stuff sucks but let's not go there. The BBC super computer is obviously humped and my schtick isn't getting through. That's sure to be the answer. It is, isn't it? It must be. Yeah that's it, Beeb's computer is humped. Thank God that's got that soted out.

But anyway this week I've played 'em at their own game and submited nowt, nada, bugger all on the sketch front. Let's see what they make of that! Har har!

I may not even bother submitting any voxpops or indeed any corrections. Then they'll see! Oh yes! Then they'll see all right.

Mwuuuuuahahahaha! Angry Angry Angry Teary

That's my final set of voxpops sent off. Thank f**k that's over.

It did seem to get harder each week, didn't it?

I concur with Timbo's sentiments. :)

7 voxpops sent in.

As it's the last time I dropped my guard and wrote what I really felt instead of what I thought they'd use.

(Insert Bill Hicks bit here)

As always, good luck to all (and it is luck...plus talent...plus more luck)

Arse, that's annoying. If I'd have known that I'd have done a 'From the Archive' Newsbullet. Bum.

ooohhh....got the 'auto-response' reply within minutes. That means I'm dead.

I've got no complaints. 5 weeks ago I'd never written anything in my life but thanks to Newsjack I can now tell people I've 'been on the BBC', albeit for 5 seconds....

Next on the wish list, a 15 minute play on Radio 4. I've got the ideas, and thanks to this forum I now have belief in myself.

Yes, this is an early Valentines.....

Hug

I didn't bother with a different Newsbullet direction in the end. It'd be too much of a risk. If I'd had something in this run aleady I might have tried. As it is I think I'm gonna try and get a ticket for tomorrow but if they'd don't record anything of mine I'd probably go postal right there and then.

From the archive Newsbullet sounds interesting though...

I wouldn't get too annoyed. I sent in a From the Archive 1930s version of Newsbullet at the end of last series and there was no interest whatsoever!

Ha ha! Made 'em sweat right up to late afternoon before sending in my efforts.

Didn't get an auto response as per, so assuming that I don't get anything on the show that must make me the biggest loser on this thread.

And my old headmaster said that I'd amount to nothing. Well who's laughing now? Eh?

Errr Whistling nnocently Errr

Anyone going to the show tonight?
