The Mitford sisters.

Any relation to Nancy Mitford?

It all felt a bit flat like reality on aspartame.

I agree with Godot it had an unlikeable sort of smugness and meanness.
It was kind of a unlovely misture of Partridge and The Fast Show.

Yep. Was she the one married to Mosely? I think they grew up at Ann Boleyn's home.

The Mitford sisters.

Thanks.

Just looking them up one of them died in 2003, which is probably when I heard about them.

And one of them gave Hitler syphilis.

So they weren't all bad. :)

I had a similar idea, about a Louis Thereux type going around the UK meeting British 'characters', a couple of years back but no one was interested; but then I'm not Paul Whitehouse or Charlie Higson, or have had a successful radio show to spin-off from. :(

Sort of like Whicker's World? When did you have this idea that nobody was interested in? (Whicker's World started in 1959).

Sanity!

I totally agree, I found it a bit underwelming but with a couple of laugh out loud moments (the Deptford beach scene in particular with Simon Day's criminal character). In my view they should've had the courage to stick with one character for a few minutes rather than keep jumping backward and forwards between them.

Simon Day has the ability to completely steal scenes one moment and be stiff and unconvincing the next. He used to steal scenes in Swiss Tony all the time.

Are you f**king serious?

This is the best story ever!

I was talking about a comedy spoof show. :)

Certainly the worst Mills and Boons novel ever.

Da Fuhrer of mine heart?

Her love was a Holocaust of fire?

Green eyes and yellow discharge?

Laughing out loud

I guess People Like Us did a similar thing, but just concentrated on a limited number of characters. I think the most succesful of the spoof documentaries looking at ordinary people was That Peter Kay Thing.

Humain Remains as well.

Well, Monty Python spoofed Whicker's World in 1972... Okay I'll shut up now. Great idea! Whistling nnocently

Of course. And I think what those shows had that these lacked is a story. Hell, I'd have been happy to have the entire episode about the weird sisters.
