What are you watching on TV? Page 1,082

Good. :P

:)

Did anyone see his apparently controversial Paul McCartney joke?
I missed it.

He just said he'd had a rough year and needed the money (in reference to something I can't remember). This audience just doesn't laugh at itself.

McCartney himself was quite funny introducing the Best Animated Feature (Up). Something like "Animated films aren't just for kids, they're for adults on drugs"

You had to be there. :P

Heheh!

I watched it last night live and I thought he was pretty good. The problem with the Globes is that you've got all the TV people with all the film people and there's a lot of snobbery at times. A close friend was a production assistant on it a few years back and she told me how the mood seemed really relaxed, but underneath there was a lot of tension. I think he might have just had a bad crowd.

Just saw Ricky's Gibson intro. Mel didn't seem upset at all, and if he was, who cares? :D

Gonna have to stop it there and watch the rest tomorrow.

Actually, Glee won Best TV Series - Comedy or Musical. As everything else nominated was comedy you could have guessed Glee would win. I don't know of any other musicals on TV so it seems they've just shoehorned the "or Musical" bit on the end so Glee could get an award. Rolling eyes

Not that Glee hasn't been very good so far.

There's some lovely stuff coming up on the old telly box soon.

There's 'Sons of Anarchy' starting on Five Usa, at 10pm tomorrow, (Wed 20th Jan), which is from some of the people who made the brilliant 'The Shield'. So I'm hoping that'll be rather good.

And then next Wednesday (27th), we have season 3 of Mad Men, on BBC Four at 10pm, for a double bill. Best Us drama at the moment, methinks.

I'm looking forward to that thing on Virgin 1 starring Tim Hutton and Gina Bellman. Looks a bit like Hustle. On it's third season in the states, so must be doing something right.

Also, glad you mentioned the thing from the makers of The Shield. I'd have missed that. And ironically I'm watching The Shield now on DVD, the season with Glenn Close. Great stuff.

The Secret Life Of Chaos. I love you iPlayer.

I was channel hopping late last night and came across this thing on Sky 3 called 'BNP Wives' Has anyone seen it? It is about women who work for the BNP and it was disgusting. It left me so angry after watching it. At least Nick Griffin pretends not to be racist, these women are. There is one woman who works for the BNP who quite openly uses the terms 'Paki' and 'Nigger', one woman who insisted on having a white midwife in her childs birth. It was a documentary that showed the truth and the appalling racism of the BNP and not the so called 'Not racist' image Nick Griffin tries to create.

I prefer the ones who don't pretend not to be racist!

Then you know exactly where you are with the f**kers.

I'm being made to watch football.

Mad Men is genius. There's nothing half as good as that on at the pictures.

Is it? I watched the first series and, whilst recognising the excellent writing and the generally great production, it didn't do anything for me at a visceral level. I just didn't find it very entertaining and it felt (dare I say it) rather formulaic. I can see all the reasons why this show is called a classic, but for me it is at best a minor distraction. Do I need "reprogramming"? Errr

What dramas have visceraled you, Tim?
