Hamlet, Beowulf and The Open Road: Automobility and Racial Uplift in the Interwar Years. Yay.
What are you reading right now? Page 93
Have you read "A Journal of the Plague Year", Griff?

Am I right in thinking Steve Coogan was in the TV adaptation of that?
Currently reading Pirate Latitudes. Can't pass up a pirate story.
Quote: Griff @ January 19 2010, 3:59 PM GMTNo I haven't, I'd like to though. The only other similar thing I've ever read was Boswell's Life of Dr.Johnson, which was marvellous.
JotPY has its moments, but it's really dull and rambling, to be honest. Defoe takes the "speaking as if he is a common man" a bit too far.

I read Beowulf in school. I didn't enjoy it I don't think. Too gory!
Quote: Griff @ January 19 2010, 4:05 PM GMTApparently so - I never saw it though. There was something about Pepys on telly last night but it clashed with Nurse Jackie which my other half is addicted to.
I remember it vaguely. It was one of those things where he kept breaking the fourth wall and talking directly to the camera.

Was the camera in the garden then?
Reading the diary of Saumel's Peyp's

It was too low budget for location work.
I love saying Samuel Pepys.
Can't say I like reading him though.
I like how it's spelled. My favourite word things at the moment are kennings.

What's all that then?
