Celebs you've met that are smug b*stards Page 6

Wow 9, that's all the weddings taken care of then.
What was I thinking!

I take your point dear, however, these nine occasions I feel are enough for me to feel fairly well informed when I say that at the majority of weddings the couple make a promise before God to stay together.

Celebs I've met that are smug bastards.
Heheh... my lips are sealed.

*Looks enigmatic

No seriously they are sealed, I got my Chapstick & Pritstick mixed up again.

Humanist weddings are increasingly popular, in which no mention is made of anything religious.

I don't recall making a promise to God during my wedding, but it wouldn't matter because I had my fingers crossed the whole time I was making solemn vows to love and cherish her forever, etc.

That sounds familiar :-)

:O what an insulting thing to say... we wouldn't even visit Norfolk. ;)

At religious weddings yes, of course! :)
At civil weddings (which are very common), there is no mention whatsoever, and these are still just as valid. Would you go to a civil wedding? Or would you have misgivings.

This conversation has veered off course... what were we talking about again?

Good question dear. What do you mean by civil weddings? Registery office services? If so then I have been to three. I did have misgivings on all occasions notably for my wife's cousin Adrian who had divorced his first wife, however, I did reason that my reasons for going were simply to make Dawn happy and was in no way an endorsment of Adrian's misguided life choice.

Smug prig!

What about my second marriage then?

Brought about by my coming home early and catching my first wife spread and having the ars* screwed off her by a bloke she worked with !

What was I supposed to do? Follow the teachings of Jesus and turn the other cheek? Then come home next week and find them at it again?

Religion? I fart in your general direction sons of a silly person!

Angry Angry Angry Angry

Yes. That handsome chap is indeed I.

Civil weddings are just weddings for people who want to be married but have no religious beliefs, exactly the same as a church wedding but with slightly different language in the vows (and not in a church!) Most people, although not yourself I'm sure :) would not even notice the difference. Most registry office weddings are like this I believe. But civil weddings can take place anywhere, stately homes, etc.

Griff I am slightly perplexed as to why you wish to know my age but I can tell you that I shall be thirty nine on March 10th.

But did you sit down with your second wife after you had caught her in this unsightly position and see if you could take steps towards saving your marriage. It takes a lot of guts I know but it can be done.

You might even wish to invite along the gentleman you caught her in embrace with. I know it sounds strange but it would prove to yourslef if no-one els that you had closure on what I accept must have been a highly unpleasant experience for you.

To not try and redeem the situation does show a slightly weakness of character if I a to speak honestly.

You are correct dear. As a religious man making a promise before Him is bound to be more of an incentive to fight through the troughs that even the most solid of marriages encouter.

Why would I be banned? Is it against forum rules to share my spiritual beliefs?

I'm starting to seriously doubt your sanity.

Griff, I am a man of the world enough to understand I am being accussed of being a hoax. In the early days of being a member of this forum I endured ribbing from other forum members which I did my best to take in good spirit as I knew there was no malice however I must say I find your persistant hostility towards me very rude. However, as with the ribbing I recieved, I am happy to, to quote the bible, 'turn the other cheek' as it is yourself you are letting down.

Fin!
