Introducing myself and my first comedy film effort

Hi everyone,

If anyone is interested I have recently posted my first comedy effort on You Tube. It's called 'The Lodger', I wrote it and play the main character Danny. Shot on a budget of around £1000 in HD, it's a cross between Only Fools and Horses and Pulp Fiction :)

I hope you enjoy it, go easy if you don't it is my first try. I really enjoyed making it though and want to do more soon.

Here it is;

Nice work.

Thanks Kenneth, Mad Kev is based on my Aussie mate Trent, glad you liked it!

Hello.

Didn't really laugh at much in it, though it did make me smile at a few of the smaller things, like the picture of paulie, and all the different coloured y fronts hanging up.

Even though it didn't make me laugh, it did keep my attention, mainly just to see what they would end up doing with the Lodger's body.

Ah, no, I tell a lie, I chuckled at the hugs to warm him up.

Visually, it looked pretty good for a first time effort I thought.

Just tried to watch it Big Dawg... I can appreciate the amount of effort you've put in... and I can see it would be funny. But there is no appeal to the female viewer.

I did laugh at the underpants hanging up though.

Thanks everyone for your comments, very useful. The story came about as I was living with a Ugandan who was driving me crazy! I used to wonder where it would all end up and writing this was therapeutic.

I guess I just wanted to create something positive out of the situation so I didn't give much thought to the female viewer! It was aimed at anyone who has lived in a shared house, I'll take those comments on board though.

Thanks again!

When I first saw the lodger, I was kind of hoping your show would be an updated version of Love Thy Neighbour. I liked that you had a Boney M ringtone on your phone.

Hopefully my comments were constructive, not seen as ultimately negative Big Dawg.

Maybe have a female housemate too to balance it a bit?

I can appreciate the issue with the housesharing though... been there done that! :)

Need this moving to Critique me thinks...

Excuse my ignorance Paul but is critique another part of the forum?

Ah yes, didn't spot that. Shall I repost it or could you move it?

Thanks for your help.

We're waiting for another moderator (who has more special powers) to move it.

Thanks!

Ellie

Moderator with very little powers.

Hi,
Just watched - it wasn't really a comedy, for me the laughs only arrived with the lodger in the freezer. And the moment we learn the keys are left behind, I kinda knew what was happening to the lodger.

But saying that, the story was very engaging and sustained my interest. It was well-shot, edited, and scored. Although the actors did occasionally give the camera the wandering eye, they also played their parts well.

A £1000 budget - yowser, you have my envy, Sir. The Slagg Brothers blew their whole 2009 budget on a plastic gun from Poundland... And it shows.
:)

Welcome to the forum. What part of Wales are you from? What camera were you using?

Rated and similar comments left for you on YT.
