I had SlagB phone me up after Leeds. Did I return the call last night? No.
After Gerrard and Torres, Liverpool only have Benayoun, Reina, and Kuyt who are anywhere near reasonable players. Benayoun being the pick of those three.
This season seems to be proving that Gerrard is having his 'Keane midfield engine slump' a few years too early. I can't see him getting back to the standard of the last few seasons, and while I'd have killed to have him at Man U in the past, I wouldn't now.
Can't see Gerrard staying for another few more years of not even almost-rans. And Torres must be thinking he should be winning more at this stage of his career.
I actually felt sorry for Benitez last night. Although I dislike Liverpool, I felt sorry for Benitez, the man, in the after-match interview. He does strike me as a nice guy and I couldn't gloat at his obvious pain and discomfort under the rather aggressive questioning of the squad quality - whether it's true or not.
I hope they stick with Rafa because I like the guy and also because they'll never win the league with him in charge.

So that's it is it? He wears a cloak of invisibilty when he's not in the team. No wonder they win so often. Cheating bastards!
By Carrick tending to be invisible, I mean he isn't all over the pitch getting mentions from commentators like Fletcher and Park are on their best days, he seems to be used more for distribution and positional awareness. Different temperament and role could be why his value isn't as obvious to the team as Fletcher etc.
