For me, it has to be when Del falls through the bar in series 6 of Only Fools. I think it was in 1989 (or thereabouts).
Best sitcom moment of the 1980s
I would have to say the chandelier falling in OFAH in 1982. Always made me laugh in hysterics. The bar scene was brilliant but not as much 'laugh out loud' factor, for me anyway.
That bit in Shelley, when Shelley falls into a vat of molten lava. Tcha! The cod-philosopher scamp!

Is this a post post post-modern post?

Agree about the chandelier!
I'm sure the bar scene was hilarious in context however I recorded the show and saw it as a clip before I saw the whole prog.
From Blackadder Series 3, when Wellington and Blackadder beat the Prince for his impropriety; every time I see that I laugh out loud. Particularly when the Prince is trying to back out of the room and Wellington starts yelling about TEA! and drags him back in... only too boot him out again with a big kick up the backside.
Its a tough one but if pushed It would be Vyvyan kicking his head down a railway track in The Young Ones.
That gave me nightmares.
Again Only Fools and Horses comes to mind, the episode with the blow up dolls, and esp the part where Del & Rodney act like they are taking their 'lady friends' for a walk and Del has to pretend to be the Afro Carribbean one and does her voice...v funny
I am sooo bored with the falling through the bar routine!
Yes, it was funny but, for me, it wasn't the greatest.
I think it depends on whether it's dialogue or, for want of a better word, slapstick.
To stay with OFAH, lines like 'Your minicab's arrived Albert.' were absolute classics.
I think I tend towards words myself.
For me it's The Comic Strip's Bad News - either the bit where Colin treads in the shit, or Bad News apperance at the Monsters Of Rock getting covered in Piss. (If you have been to Donnington Monsters Of Rock you get the joke!!)
Edited by Aaron.
Stay off the Rastafarian Old Holborn . . it's making you twitch.
Del Boy falling through the bar.
Rik in The Young Ones opening a tampon and dipping it in a drink made me fall onto the floor laughing.
Oddly, Rik Mayall again in Blackadder 4 'Always treat your kite like you treat your woman.... get inside her four times a day and take her to heaven and back.'
Not quite sure if this was late 80s or early 90s - Julian Clary at the comedy awards 'Sorry I'm late, I was back stage fisting Norman Lamont.' On the floor again. Not really sitcom of course.
Not The 9 O'Clock News - Gerald the Gorilla.
I'd go for the pub fight in the Red Dwarf episode Backwards or when Cat goes into the bushes in the same episode
