Aside from that. Yes, producing this sketch does present myriad problems given the ambition of it. That does not necessarily mean it's not worth writing. I found it funny, and it would be even funnier if filmed. The fact it'd be expensive does not preclude it from existing in written format. It'd be hard to get produced, true, but other people found it funny and even if you didn't it simply wasn't worth your enmity. It's a silly sketch, why insult the author beacuse you didn't like it?

On the other comments on the set-up section. I assume the author is a fan of Big Train and Jam; shows that like that elongated joke-free set-up to enhance the bizarre nature of the situation. To me, a fan of those shows, I found it worked in that style. The first section does need severe editing and perhaps a re-write to make it more naturalistic (which I think most people have implied). But what you're trying to do is visible.

I called you a dick because you were utterly unconstructive, making a (bad) joke about the sketch rather than constructively analysing why you didn't like it. True, as an audience member you are not obliged to understand why you didn't like something. You can dismiss something as 'shit' if it tickles your fancy. But you're not an audience. You voluntarily chose to come on a critique thread and critique something, and instead of doing that you merely insulted the person asking for advice. That makes you a dick in my book, if you disagree blame your post. I'm just the audience.

I took it personally because your comment was aimed at me, not the sketch. You just used it as an opportunity to slag someone off to try and amuse other people. Nice! I wasn't looking for your respect, Godot, I put something up in the hope of constructive criticism, which is something you rarely give, just seeing it as an opportunity to come up with 'biting' comments.

CRITIQUE RULES
1) The BSG forums are remarkable in that debate is almost completely free of trolls and bruised egos. Please help keep it that way by remembering that feedback / comments are meant to develop ideas and writers; not to cripple people with cruel barbs. When you post material for critique, you will then appreciate the free and frank (but considerate) opinions. Remember comedy is subjective and not everyone will give glowing praise. In fact, negative points are the ones to be thankful for as they allow us to re-examine our work and help us develop.

I appreciate your later, constructive crit though Godot and I don't want to sound like a whiny bitch its just I didn't/don't see why you've singled me out on a few occasions when there is a lot of stuff on here to demonstrate your specific form of critique. I hope we can still be (pri)mates.

You do not pay QUOTES, you pay INVOICES.

A QUOTE occurs before a job is done, an INVOICE is the bill to pay when the job is done.

Having the chimp show a QUOTE at the end of a job, thoroughly confuses the issue, unless you meant it as a quote for repairing the damage done by the chimps, in which case you did not explain that accurately.

Thanks Giggle, you've done my job for me!

I like the idea and a lot of the imagery. But you do seem to be hammering home and over extending an idea that would work better untrammelled by such things.

The banana payment punch seems a happier place to end.

Despite this forum having thousands of members only a handful of people ever post in critique. It seems that plenty of people are happy to critique professional comedy but not 'home-grown' script level stuff. And that goes for writers too. There are writers on this forum with thousands of posts to their credit who never come here.

I do, and it is simply not true that I 'rarely give' constructive criticism. You can find my constructive criticism on the first page of critique right now in Scratchyr's 'In Court' sketch which I described as 'excellent' and 'a great piece of work' and under CYK88's 'Mivea' sketch which I also described as 'excellent'. In both cases I offered alterations or suggestions on the scripts.

In addition to offering constructive criticism on a regular basis I have also offered technical help to people regarding video production as I had a background in this.

Regarding your 'biting comments' remark, you should see me more as a sparring partner than an adversary. A boxer doesn't complain that his sparring partner is hitting him.

Until today Giggle-o I had no idea I'd criticised anything else by you. I don't look out for specific writers - I just read and crit stuff that catches my eye when I have time. There's no bad feeling. Your primates joke is the kind of thing I'm looking for - heckle and retort. You get better at telling jokes and I get better at heckling.

This is a good idea Giggle-o. I think Morrace's edit is a lot cleaner and shows that there's good stuff in there but you buried it a bit.
