Quote: Griff @ January 3 2010, 4:56 PM GMTI was really hoping Bill Nighy would get the Dr.Who gig in 2005.
He'd be a good choice for the role. I don't really think he'd do it though.

Quote: zooo @ January 3 2010, 4:54 PM GMTI would love a grumpy, slightly scary Doctor.
It would put a better spin on the whimpering end the last Doctor had, if this one was less human and a bit more alien emotionally. Give him 2 companions as a balance.
Quote: chipolata @ January 3 2010, 4:56 PM GMTTennant's quite cute in a pointy nosed rodenty way.
Quote: Renegade Carpark @ January 3 2010, 4:53 PM GMTI remember when DW was a curmudgeonly old bastard, who hated everyone and walked round with a 'who the f**k farted?' look on his face.
I think if you'd have been in charge, it's fair to say eight million people wouldn't have been tuning in!

No, no, no; one companion, maybe the occasional tag along, but the last thing you want is too many people in the Tardis. Especially when you only have about forty five minutes to tell a story.

Want to echo Griff's Bill Nighy, my other choices would have been Donald Sutherland, Jeff Goldblum or even a lady Doctor like Helen Mirren.
Though, they've obviously going down the 'yoof' route as the Doctors get continually younger to appeal to the demographic - so expect the next one to be some sperm from Hollyoaks.

(Gets ready for people to laugh at him) Like Sylvester McCoy in his final two years! (Runs away)

Peter Davison was really quite young. And apparently Steven Moffatt thought the same as you, get an older Doctor, it just so happened the person who knocked him out during auditions was young.
And an American palying Who? Get the f**k outta here!

But it always ends up as will they won't they. I'd like to see the Doctor like he was when he had Rose and the Corrie kid onboard.

Yeah. Though not with Tate.

They still tried to play on it though. Tate was the best Tennant series for me.
I'd like a sweary Malcolm Tucker style doctor.

For me, she was certainly his best companion.

Donald Sutherland is Canadian I'll have you know. Go Curt, tear Matt a new one!
Sorry, I'll choose a British actor, James Corden as the Doctor with Matthew Horne as his cross dressing, bisexual companion - oh wait, RTD has left now.

"Davros, what's this destroying the Universe thing all aboot?"
Dr gets companion drunk and has none consensual sex. They still like each other but there's a sense of coldness and unease for the rest of their adventures.
