Some related DVD news!

The Are You Being Served? Series 7 and It Ain't Half Hot Mum Series 6 DVDs will be released on 9th June,

Aaron, where is the 'Are You Being Served? complete boxset? On Amazon I see that the USA can get series 1 to 10 in 2 box sets yet we in Blighty are only just getting series 7. This is terrible and I have a good mind to do a flash protest outside the BBC centre. Please tell me it's coming soon...

Def.

It will, no doubt, be released at the same time as series 10. So that's a good year or so away.

I love Tintin - and graphic novels which are basically comics.

I love Tintin- especially the pre-war ones as they were also History documents- stating the Political situations of the time. When war broke out- Herge decided not to make his comics political to avoid execution. So the stories from then on were about Treasure Hunts etc. Sadly, the cartoons, though good, not a patch on the books. The reason is they don't mention these political situations as they wouldn't interest kids today, but the most annoying thing is that Tintin has been made American. Why, he is Belgian? Bloody Americans.

And the series 7 DVD is delayed yet again. Apparently the new projected (but not finalised) date is 25th August. Glad I didn't pre-order, or I'd be rather bloody annoyed.

Thanks, will check it out.

Not impressed that the epsidode that was shown in colour for the first time isn't on iPlayer Angry

Has anyone else heard a single John Inman recorded called Are You Being Served Sir?? It's quite funny.

Classic sitcom that was very innocently-funny and THE DOCUMENTARY was great. It is a pity that Frank Thornton, Trevor Bannister (who was highly superior to his replaccemnet Mike Berry) and Nicholas Smith are the only cast members who aren't deceased. My favourite characters were Mr Humphries, Mrs Slocombe, the attractive Miss Brahms, Mr Grainger and Mr Lucas.

I always liked this show a lot in the early days and have fond memories. But it really should have been put out of its misery before the last few series.

The writers admitted as much in their documentary and that was nice that they were prepared to be honest about it. It adds weight, IMO, to the argument "always leave them wanting more"

I saw some of the death throes episodes a while back and they were truly shocking. Paper thin plots and preposterous gang show turns bordering on embarassing. However on balance I will always have a soft spot for it in its halcyon days.
