Comedians who are surprisingly good actors

Just watching Day of the Triffids and thought ooh that Eddie Izzard is a pretty good actor.

Any other nominations?

Richard Herring.

I reckon all comedians are good actors. I must admit the only was only one who really surprised me by being so good was Bobby Ball.

George Burns.

Known particularly for his stand up...

He was by far the best thing in that, wasn't he? A great baddie.

I liked the Triffids as well.

The most obvious exponent is Tom Hanks, who has won like Oscars and shit.

Was he a comedian??

I think this thread is for stand ups and stuff who branch into acting. (Or is it...?)

Oh zooo, you are so young, yes he was a comedian back in dinosaur times.

Edit: No my mistake, just read his wiki, he wasn't a proper stand up, he was a comic actor.

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally?

Ha! You big numpty. :)

I like Eddie Izzard. And I'll be watching D.O.T.T later, but I think he's an awful actor. Well certainly not found his role yet. I dunno what it is about him. But any film I've seen of his, or that gypo show he was in, made me want to put me boot through the screen.

I have to agree with the premise of this thread. Eddie can act. At least, when I saw him in Episode One of this f**king abortion, I managed to forget he was Eddie Izzard, which is about as much as an actor called Eddie Izzard could want.
